Michael Flynn will put Welsh pride to one side to cheer City to Capital One Cup glory.

The former Bantams skipper is now back in his native Wales with Blue Square Bet Premier promotion-chasers Newport.

But Flynn will be supporting club over country tomorrow when he switches on the telly to watch the Wembley drama unfold.

The midfielder said: “I’m absolutely made up for Bradford and without question will support them. I have no split loyalties whatsoever, despite being a proud Welshman.

“County is my club because Newport is my city but my heart is with Bradford in terms of my football career.

“It’s going to mean a huge amount to the club in terms of cementing their financial future. It has been in doubt and there were times when I was there when the future looked very bleak indeed.

“Administration and all those words you try and block out as a footballer – I heard them an awful lot in my time at Bradford.

Mark Lawn and Julian Rhodes have done wonders and there are a lot of people behind the scenes who deserve their day out – like Wendy James, the lady who helps out the players, and Graham (Duckworth) the kit man.

“The fans have helped the club to survive and hopefully tomorrow they do themselves proud and everyone in the city.

“It’s a measure of Bradford as a club that they’ll honour the 56 who died in the fire and after all the doom and gloom they deserve it.”

Flynn believes City are more than capable of pulling off one more shock.

He said: “Swansea are great at keeping the ball and Wembley is so, so big and hard to get around for 90 or 120 minutes – but anything is possible.”
