Alan Connell was a Wembley loser last season – and he doesn’t want a repeat tomorrow.

Connell was in the Swindon side beaten 2-0 by Chesterfield in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final but he expects a very different occasion this time.

“I am so excited for the game and hoping to play a part because playing at Wembley is the best,” said the City striker.

“The best moment in my life was walking out on the pitch with 50,000 people there. Tomorrow will be 90,000 and that is an incredible thought.

“Losing to Chesterfield wasn’t great. We played well on the day but didn’t win the game, which can happen.

“As favourites it was disappointing but we got the league (promotion) – and that was the main target.

“Losing at Wembley wasn’t nice and it isn’t something I want to go through again. But, of course, we are massive underdogs – we have been the entire run.”

Connell feels City have kept their feet on the ground despite the huge build-up.

He said: “Even though the media interest has been huge, we haven’t been any different. We have to make sure it stays that way.”
