The road to Wembley has been long and expensive for many Bantams’ fans, with supporters travelling a total of 910 miles to away games during the club’s Capital One Cup campaign, raking up fuel bills of more than £170 in many cases.

So the competition’s sponsors have stepped in to reward loyal followers by offering free transport as part of a convoy of coaches for the showpiece final against Swansea on Sunday, February 24.

Capital One will dispatch a fleet of more than 20 coaches from Valley Parade on the morning and fans who have booked their travel via the club’s official coach provider will be contacted by the sponsor to have the opportunity to have their travel costs refunded.

It is making the same offer to fans of Swansea, whose fans have travelled 1,156 miles at a cost of about £223 per supporter on their way to the final.

Michael Woodburn, chief marketing officer at Capital One, said: “Fans of both clubs face a round trip of more than 300 miles to Wembley and we wanted to reward their loyalty and thank them for their passionate support in the competition throughout the season.

“The journey to Wembley is part of the magic of a cup final day and the thousands of fans aboard the Capital One convoy will be getting their day off to the best possible start.”
