Another FA Cup away day beckons for Bantams
9:30am Saturday 20th October 2012 in Bantams
By Simon Parker, Bradford City Reporter
City have had 12 away draws out of 16 in the FA Cup
“.... will play Bradford City”. Feel free to fill in the gap with any League One name, preferably one from the south.
Yep, the FA Cup proper starts tomorrow lunchtime with the first-round draw – and we can once again put ourselves through the rigmarole of being let down.
Let’s face it, the odds are stacked firmly on the side of another away game. That’s what usually happens.
Don’t believe me? Check the last couple of seasons and the proliferation of Bantam cup ties on the road.
Since Peter Taylor’s team lost to Preston in extra-time in August 2010, City’s ball has been in the cup bag on 16 occasions. Twelve of those have resulted in away draws.
And December’s trip to Port Vale for their JPT northern quarter-final will be only the third time that City have faced opposition from the same division.
So going on those figures, yet another trip to League One hosts looks a racing certainty.
Forget the prospect of a local derby with Avenue or Guiseley... I’m already preparing for that journey to Crawley or Stevenage.

Poor research City have played 253 games in the FA Cup in their history 130 at home, 114 away and 9 on neutral grounds. Hardly biased in favour of away ties

To suggest it is a foregone conclusion we will be drawn away is ridiculous the odds are 50/50 and the odds of drawing Avenue or Guiseley if they qualify is no worse than drawing Crawley
