Bradford City star out for six weeks
1:06pm Thursday 4th October 2012 in Bantams
By Simon Parker, Bradford City Reporter
Bradford City's Kyel Reid in action
Kyel Reid will be out for SIX weeks, it has been confirmed today.
The City winger suffered a groin injury in the first half of Tuesday's goalless draw at Rochdale.
Reid went for a scan yesterday which confirmed that he has torn the tendon - and now faces a spell on the sidelines until the end of next month.
Boss Phil Parkinson said: "He fell awkwardly in the tackle and a bit of tendon came away from the bone in the top of the groin area.
"It’s a big blow for us but once again we’ve got other players waiting for their chance to come in. That’s what the squad is for.
“You expect to get injuries throughout the season and you’ve got to deal with them. We will do.
“We’ve got good players to come in and they’ve got to grab hold of the opportunity, like Ricky Ravenhill did on Tuesday."

One door shuts another opens, Hines showed signs in the later stages of the game at Rochdale of what he's capable of, i'm sure his confidence will grow with a string of games he'll possibly now play. There is also Thompson who could also play wide...so we still have options. Personally i'd go with Hines.

Might be worth a shout if he's available.

OUCH!!! PP could have done with another natural L/winger as we have supposedly 3 R/wingers and one of them can play on the left. Parky needs to view that situation before thinking about another striker. Should have offered Compton what he was asking for. There was nothing wrong with him and most of the fans wanted him to stay as He also wanted to stay.

I have said time and time again we have a brilliant starting 11 but the squad was paper thin.
We have no left winger. Atkinson is getting plaudits, probably rightly, for better performances. But those performances are hardly dynamic. Has he crossed the ball ths year?
Hinds is a work in progress this year and after Tuesday must never be played on the left again. He has one foot so has to cut in every time and was ineffective.
Thompson hasn't shown me anything, yet, to excite me.
And let's be honest, Ravo and R Jones are good players but not a patch on G Jones.
After being massively optimistic I have to say that I feel we are in for a tough few weeks now. We wouldn't have scored against Rochdale if we were still playing now.
Hanson hasn't scored away for over a yearin the league- Burton away 1 October 2012- and feel we may ruefully look back at the lack of summer activity re a proven striker.
Incidentally, I think that Hanson stat says as much about PP and his tactics away from home and his away record, as it does about James himself.

One man injured and the world seems t be caving in.Why is that please?
Are not the squad layers not good enough?
I think Pp missed trick on Tuesday after the sending off. Given the ere playing 4-41 at tha point could we have not moved Meredithhigher up he field and played three at the back.
The way to beat 10 men is to play wit width on both sides of attack.
I hope I am wrong but is Wells feeling less hungry with athree year contract in his hand. DALEY ent off the boil when he got a similar deal. History shouldnot repeat itself but.................

Thompson is actually probably the best crosser of the ball but does he want to play out wide and indeed does he have the 'legs; to do so? This was always the strangest signing by Parky and was questionable whether it was his choice in that a manager surely picks a player knowing where he fits into the squad and he intimated a difference of opnion between himself and player on this issue. He will now have to use him as Atkinson despite all his sudden fans simply doesn't create enough. How many crosses does he actually put in in a game? Very few i'd say and especially ones to attack as a striker. he doesn't head for the bye-line and doesn't have the pace to beat his man imo.
Thus he cuts inside, thus no cross......
HInes looks light-weight at times and now its time to stand up and take his chance.
This all adds up to a loss and hopefully Reid can return without any further difficulty......pris
oner did state last year his concerns about Reid and the need for cover. Even more so given the lack of attacking central midfielders......i expect afew draws/close games in future fixtures as we are hard to beat. Just need to find an alternative outlet......
