We won't let Daggers stick the knife in again this year, says Bantams striker Nahki Wells

Nahki Wells is convinced City have finally found the cure for their travel sickness.
Despite failing to turn domination into victory at Rochdale, the goalless draw in midweek made it five points from the last three games on the road.
Phil Parkinson’s men hit the motorway again this weekend for Dagenham, a corner of League Two where they have found it tough. They have lost on the last three occasions at the Essex side since a flattering 4-1 win in their first ever visit in 2007.
Last season’s 1-0 defeat came courtesy of a superb free-kick out of context in a nothing game. But that setback was in keeping with City’s struggles away from Valley Parade and their away form was among the worst in the division.
That is an area that had to be rectified and Wells believes it already has. The mini-unbeaten streak is already their best since the end of the 2009-2010 campaign.
Wells said: “Last season was very tough. We seemed to want to just win at home.
“Now we have that eagerness to win away as well and that’s why we are where we are in the table.
“We had that confidence even at the beginning of the season. It just didn’t happen for us at Gillingham but we played well.
“You just have to keep grinding away and we got that late equaliser at Accrington after another good performance. Then we won against Oxford and that momentum is taking us forward.
“If we hadn’t got that (first) away win we’d still be in the same predicament but we’ve picked up five points from the last three away games and can take confidence from that.
“We’re sure about our home form but I’ve also noticed that we are becoming more dominant away. That makes a big difference for us.”
Wells went into the new season confident that City could make it one to remember. And the evidence of the first ten games, despite back-to-back blanks against Port Vale and Rochdale, has done nothing to change his mind.
The Bermudian added: “I’m absolutely convinced we can be up there.
“We’ve played some tough teams so far in the league and we haven’t given up any bad result, other than Rotherham.
“A lot of teams will fear us 100 per cent, especially coming to Valley Parade. Teams will be aware of us and we’ll just have to continue to grind away, battle and break them down.
“We’re dominating large parts of games but sometimes you have those tough days when the ball won’t go in. There will be other occasions when we come out victorious and don’t play that well.
“But I think this team are playing some absolutely great football. There are a lot of things to be proud of and be positive about.”
Dagenham have picked up after a torrid start. Having claimed a first league win against Wycombe last week, they then grabbed a point at City’s conquerors Vale on Tuesday.
Wells, who was a late sub in their March encounter, has no qualms about the latest trip.
“At home you’re expected to go out and set the tempo. The difference away is that games should be more open and hopefully we can create chances for fun.”

Ross Hannah is a sniffer in the box and in the last couple of games we hve ha so many half chancs which no one could take. Surely Hannah should have been gven a run in the first team to see what e coud do. Or is PP being unfairly stubborn ove another manager's signing. Missng all those half chances may cost us dearand, come the end of season,it will be no ood saying we have dominate so man ames and created so many chances. Balls in the onion bag win games
What more does the man have to do in pre season other than scoring a bag full of goals to be given a chance.Does feel like hes suffering from the Parky face doesnt fit etc which is crazy.
He is not and never will be a Rooney type striker running games creating and scoring but he will score goals if hes in and around the box permantely for 90 mins.Owen Fowler never did much more than score goals but were invaluable.I know these players are from a vastly superior level of football but my point remains.

I agree with " Sticks" comment recently, that 'Ross' is not ready yet. It is quite a transition, from non league, for any player showing promise. His goal scoring achievements, were in non league. He has bagged a few in this League. But he is still learning his new career. Sending him on loan, will keep him match fit. Scoring again whist on loan, will lift his confidence.

Ross can be re-called at any time. Whilst City have several experienced strikers, -Ross must wait until 'The Manager' feels he is ready for a period of selection-which may occur during this Season.

Should the current Strikers hit a bad period of form. Or, at worst, become injured - then Ross will be in contention for selection, and/or re-call.

It is the type of fixture we struggled in last season though, where we seemed to set up trying to keep it tight, and pinch a goal, fearful of the consequences of defeat to one of our relegation rivals.
With us now being at the opposite end of the table, we should hopefully be more positive in these type of games, because putting it simply we've got better players.
First and foremost today though, let's make sure we defend set pieces well.
