Bradford City drawn away to Wigan

City will travel to Wigan in the Capital One Cup fourth round.

It will be the first time the Bantams have faced Premier League opposition since losing 4-1 at West Brom in the same competition in September 2005.

But it still comes as an anti-climax as Phil Parkinson's men once again missed out on the really big guns.

Apart from Swindon away we could not have had a worse draw, no crowd no money, someone up there doesnot like us :-((

You get bigger crowds than them lol.

FFS...do we have to get to the final to get a decent fixture. The worst suppprted team in Premier League history and not even at home. Footballing gods hate us.

Massively frustrating. Least supported team in the premier league!
However could work out for us as they are a beatable team

Crap draw. Their fans aren't going to be bothered, they get some of the lowest attendances in the PL - I've looked and the average is about 18,000.

Gotta hope we can win.

I went to Wigan a couple of times last season with tickets from tickets for troops and there is absolutely no atmosphere in their ground which they can barely fill. Absolute garbage!

Ok, so no big pay day, but genuine chance of further progression....
Also, we can ALL go...and take all our friends, neighbours, relatives, work colleagues... Etc.

What the hell are you all moaning for, you should fancy your chances at beating Wigan, last 8 is in the bag, then the payday tie will come, year on year you keep saying the club needs a good cup run, so far you have got it and yet your still complaining

lancaster1 says...
10:23pm Wed 26 Sep 12

Get in got the tie I wanted!! Living in lancaster can't make evening games as no trains home after 8 so wanted local and got it no atmosphere??? We are city fans make our own up the bantams

Moomooland more like cuckooland, what a stupid and ill informed comment. We ain't generated much dosh so far so of course we wanted a big side this time to guarantee a big payday. As someone else said Wigan will prob play their 1st team so even the most optimistic city fan must fear the worst. Crap draw on so many levels

What a set of numpties, you come on Bulls site, moaning. You moan if owt goes wrong at City. You're in the last 16, against a side that can be beaten, a great chance to go forward. Yet you're moaning, just proves a point, you don't now what you want. A successful team going forward or a set of losers. Mind you you do have both, if you think about it.

Birky Neil says...
10:56pm Wed 26 Sep 12

It's a crap draw yes when we could of been given a big team like Liverpool or man u but it could of been worse like Swindon away or southampton or Norwich away! At least Wigan are close by and are beatable. We will probably get more away tickets as they cannot fill their ground even against premier league teams who play them! So all in all not a bad draw apart from financial aspect.

A side that can be beaten. Wigan aren't who they were 20 years ago they are a well established premier league side.
People are disapointed due to the fact we have come so far and been given a tie against a team where the financial rewards are basically nil.

will need a lot of luck and a wonderful display to get past Wigan. the finish by Wigan on the last 10 games of last season put them in about 3rd pos in the Prm league. City fans will take lots of atmosphere to the Wigan ground. when is the game , I may be over from Oz, maybe I can go too.

looking at wigans games so far its not a bad draw for us......to progress to round 5...then a big gun.
Home form is....P3,W0,D1,L2...
F3,A6
Away form is.....P2,W1,D0.L1..
.F2,A4
GOAL DIFFERENCE -5.
They sit 15(out of 20) in prem with 4 points.
City need to take the fans there to form the atmosphere for our lads.

Well if you think about it numb nuts, you beat Wigan you'll have your big money game. I don't think, PP or his team will be thinking " oh, crap we are not going to make any money " Now who's the prat sjrobbo, think before you post. Money ain't everything. No. I can talk about anything, biscuit. I don't have to explain my post it's obvious what I meant. Another jealous City Fan. Bulls had a good season, so where's the problem. Think on mate, you lot nearly went under. Mind you your comment is to be expected. As I said jealousy.

Absolutely no need for this ludicrous bickering here. Any sensible Bulls fan will wish City well in their cup run. Except the guy who said 'hope your club folds'...he can do one ;)

Crap draw money wise, but could be a blessing in disguise.

Add that to the long list of appalling cup draws in recent seasons; there's hardly going to be a big crowd there.

A bit of a kick in the teeth for the lads, who deserve far better reward for their exploits, but the cup is pretty low on our list of priorities for the season.

Port Vale at home is far more important than any cup game will be.

lets not let the hate mob take over again. So it ain't the best tie but all we can do is beat who we play.

I agree that on paper it looks poor, but they aren't half bad and if we play well and win and get to the quarter final we will get some reward. This competition has been about long term team confidence rather than pennies in the piggy bank. We could take 2 or 3 thousand there and out sing them. Perhaps it is a tie that Jewell would like to watch if he still cares, either way it is down to the squad, the manager and us to try to win to reach the final 8 of the League Cup.

Lets look up and Wigan are certainly that ...

Come on City

Let's hope that Wigans form dips further in the premier league so they see this game more as a inconvenience and play a weakened team! Remember we're the lowest ranked side in the competition so that may work in our favour then it's Leeds at home in the quarters!! Try to be positive!

Morning all. Well just had a quick look at the comments and ffs, you are all ripping eachothers throats out. I wouldn't have minded Man.u. at home but It could have been worse. The Wigan game is very winnable and it's only down the road. People talk about the cash it would generate if we had a big club at home with a possible live viewing on Sky. as one poster stated, everyone is saying that we need a good cup run and now that we are, people are moaning because we are away again. Let's look at it realistically., Man. u. or Liverpool or Arsenal at home. Lot's of money for the club and also possible great humiliation in front of the cameras. 6-0 thrashing? or even worse. What would your comments be then? Umph should have been drawn at Wigan. The squad that we have is capable of beating Wigan and I'm sure we will have more fans than them so PSYCHOLOGICALLY, It will be like a HOME game and we will create that atmosphere. Only one problem, it's gonna take longer to get back home lol. I bet quite a lot of you are travelling to that dump in Rochdale next tuesday? We will be under cover in a very beautiful Wigan stadium. I will be going for sure to cheer the lads on. We do have a genuine chance of going thru to the 1/4 final. So let's look on the possitive side for once.

Hahahaha, The Dulls fans getting excited, did they think they had got an extra fixture, just because it sounds like a Rugby League match?

Winnable tie for us, speaking to a Pie Eater last night and he thinks Martinez will put more or less a 2nd string out against us, staying in the prem is their priority. It is also local enough for us to take a decent following, not all doom and gloom lads.

Well you got the responce from a few you were looking for theviking62, yes Wigan are one of the teams in the Prem who given a very good day we could beat, my original comment was to generate cash for our club (because we aint gonna win the "Capital Cup") it was possibley the worse draw we could have drawn out of the hat apart from Swindon away, not moaning FACT!!.

The point I was trying to make was, 1) was that the game is winnable, 2) and you would make your money in the next round. But as alway some of your supporters bit. The ones that did, are the ones who post dross about the Bulls on the bulls site. As I said why the negativity, your in the last 16.

No-one is negative, we're going up and we're still in the cup. And did you say above the Bulls had a good season? I'd hate to see your definition of bad, your missus(or mister) perhaps?

What have we to be jealous about viking? You fed up because a few city fans have seen through the dross that has been going on up at the tip and have dared to comment.

After many of your comments on The Dulls from The Dump and these most recent ones here I am going to set up a nice little troll account and ruin your every thread and comment as I think you are a bit of **nksock. Hope you can uncover my lovely Bulls supporting alter-ego.

Not been funny pal but getting bored of reading your comments like most of us on here. Your clearly here to wind people up and clearly your not a city fan so why come on here. I don't go on the bulls comment bit so why are you?

That fact you state, was dealt with last week by our chairman stating the cup run to date had cost us money. As the guy above said, you're a bit boring, a poor wum, and know very little.

Drawing the worst supported Prem club at their ground is little reward for the teams efforts, the city fans are aware of both these FACTS which is why there is the disappointment. If we lose to wigan we will have made NO money from this cup run, if we had drawn Man U or Chelsea and lost we would have had receipts of approx 500k.

Not too sure who you think Wigan are. Have a quick look and see who we beat 4-1 on both occasions to get here. We put out our '2nd' string team on both occasions. Have a look at our goals against Championship side Forest, they were world class. The Sky commentators and the Forest Manager admitted the gulf in class of the players in the Premier League and the Championship.
So on here, I have just read appalling comments about our club, a lot of fourth division attitudes used to fourth division football.

You may not remember the "good old days" when you were in the fourth division The Verdict but I do, going to that tip that was called Springfield Park, see where we were in 2000/2001 and don't be so condescending it could happen to you, Dave Whelan (a Bradford lad by the way) won't be around forever so enjoy Premiership football whilst you have it ?.
