City cup team news

Ricky Ravenhill made his first appearance of the season as City rang the changes in the Capital One Cup again.

Phil Parkinson altered six of the side from Saturday for the third-round home clash with Burton – as he had done at Watford in the previous tie.

The most notable inclusion was midfielder Ravenhill, who had played just an hour of reserve-team football since injuring his knee at Guiseley in July.

All three pre-match doubts – Kyel Reid, Luke Oliver and keeper Jon McLaughlin – dropped to the bench with Zavon Hines, Stephen Darby and Matt Duke stepping in.

And there was a double switch up front with Garry Thompson and Alan Connell renewing their partnership from the Vicarage Road win. James Hanson and Nahki Wells were both named as subs as City had plenty of firepower to call upon as back-up.

CITY: Duke, Darby, McArdle, Davies, Meredith, Atkinson, Ravenhill, G Jones, Hines, Connell, Thompson. Subs: Oliver, Reid, Hanson , McHugh, Wells, Doyle, McLaughlin.
