Bradford City: Steve Evans will not appeal after being hit for six by FA
7:00am Tuesday 11th September 2012 in Bantams
By Simon Parker, Bradford City Reporter
Rotherham manager Steve Evans is no stranger to controversy and has 'previous'' with the FA
City today distanced themselves from the Steve Evans affair after he was punished by the Football Association for his conduct at Valley Parade last season.
Evans has been banned from attending Rotherham’s next six games and fined £3,000.
He was found guilty of “using abusive and insulting words and behaviour, including a reference to gender” to a female member of the City staff around the dressing room area at the home match with Crawley in March.
A delegation from City, which included director Roger Owen and the woman involved, attended an FA hearing in Birmingham last Wednesday. But the verdict was only announced late yesterday afternoon.
A club statement said: “We have received the FA commission’s findings and we have no further comment on the matter.”
Evans, who left Crawley to become Rotherham manager a fortnight after the incident, will not be allowed in the ground at a Millers match until they face Southend at home on October 13.
The ban begins straight away with the weekend clash against Torquay, when Evans cannot attend the stadium at any time during the day.
The commission did not find that he had used indecent words or behaviour. But given his previous record – which includes a prosecution for tax evasion – he is likely to be on thin ice with the football authorities.
Evans decided not to appeal the verdict but said: “I’m very disappointed by the decision. However, for the good of Rotherham United I accept the verdict and will move on with no further comment.”
The case had been brought by the FA after City initially lodged a complaint with the Football League. The incident came after five players had been sent off in a mass brawl at the final whistle.
Evans was charged on June 19 and the hearing was scheduled to take place in the first week of July. But he was ill at the time and it had to be postponed.
Rotherham, who beat City 4-0 ten days ago – only to be turned over 6-2 by Port Vale on Saturday – are not due at Valley Parade until February 23.
A club statement read: “Rotherham acknowledge the decision of the FA and will work closely with Steve Evans to ensure the penalty imposed does not affect our objectives for this season.”

In his comment this poster sought to insult other City fans on here with whom he disagreed on certain football issues, by using a comment where they were compared to those with mental impairment. ie he clearly sees people like this as 'beyond the pail.'
I answered his points, rather than reporting him/or abusing him, (as he'd broken the terms/conditions of this site re:abuse) and would have been happy for his comments and my condemnation of his behaviour/rebuttal of his ddgy 'defence' to stand for all to see. This poster had a chance to apologie-he didn't!
Clearly, some other poster complained or someone from the 'T&A' took action themselves.
Mental illness/mental impairment should NEVER be used as a form of abuse and it important to challenge it, whenever it 'rears it's ugy head'!!
It would also be better if people on here could generally 'argue their corner/case' without resort to insult/abuse, which generally means when you need to do this -you've LOST the argument!!
We are ALL supposed to be City fans support the same team, attend the same matches, wear the same colours, celebrate the same successs, bemoan the same disappointments.
We have different ieas around HOW the team is composed, how the team could be better, what needs to be done to get/maintain success. But sometimes 'comments' go well beyond banter and ends up with something very, very unpleasant.
THINK...before you post!!

Well done to the 'T&A' for removing the insulting comments of a poster on here yesterday. This person (sadly) goes by the name of a legendary Scottish right back for City who scored the goal to put Spurs out of the FA cup, (who I cheered all those years ago.) Also, because I didn't apologise to him I've been given an extra punishment of having no pocket money for this Saturdays game.
AND, Santas knocked a present off my list for this year.

Let me assure Cityman23 that I've been sent to bed early every night without my supper.

I'm writing a book for you though.
Stop trying to influence people and go and make some friends.
Hiding behind your keyboard won't help you do that I'm afraid.
Last word again?
