Flexi-card a hit as Bradford City plan repeat for 2013-14

City are already looking at repeating the flexi-card system for next year.

Around 2,600 of the 50-50 tickets have been sold this season, with 600 of those during August after they agreed to extend the deal a second time following requests from fans.

The success of the take-up has delighted the club, who are keen to factor in a similar format in future.

Director of operations David Baldwin is in the process of drawing up a fans’ consultation board within the next ten days and ticketing prices will be high on their agenda.

Baldwin said: “One of the first remits of this new board will be the season-ticket campaigns for Christmas and next season. We’re hoping to have that information out soon.

“We’re keen to find some kind of flexi-card format because it has gone so well this year. I don’t know if we can do the same tickets at the same price but the principle of pay-as-you-go has proved a successful option.”

Combined sales of 50/50 cards and season tickets have reached 9,500. City had 8,700 season-ticket holders last season and they expect the eventual financial intake to be the same.

Baldwin believes the decision to put back the flexi-card deadline a second time to include the first month of the season has been vindicated.

He said: “A reasonable proportion of those buying them in August were paying £50 prices. Obviously season-ticket holders did take advantage of the £25 discount offer but it did also encourage extra sales at the normal amount.

“People have seen there’s a quiet revolution going on at the club and they want to join it. We’re hoping this will be the catalyst for a good year.”

But flexi-card holders, like those with season tickets, must pay the full admission price for the Capital One Cup tie with Burton on Tuesday, September 25.

Meanwhile, the Football Association are not expected to announce their ruling on the Steve Evans case until the start of next week.

A hearing took place in Birmingham on Wednesday, where he denied a charge of indecent conduct at City’s home game with Crawley last season.

I agree with you Prince but I am slightly concerned if they are expecting people to part with £20 for the League Cup game. It's not exactly an attractive fixture to be asking full price.

I'm not sure the club can do anything about it. Usually with Cup games you have to charge full whack as the visiting team take their cut of the receipts.

Surely if Steve Evans is guilty of Indecent Exposure (isn't this just him showing his face?) then this is a Criminal matter for the Police not just the FA?

in my case NOT proud!...thats cos i turned up for the wimbledon game 2 get my FLEXICARD, for which i had paid for several months earlier, as i live 230 miles away in Somerset..only to be told (receipt in hand) that they had NO ticket 4 me...I was sent by the ticket office to the turnstiles...the turnstile operative refused to allow me entry...he sent for his manager who also refused me entry UNTIL I SAID "right i shall go down to the T and A and tell my story 2 them, since i have travelled 230 miles...Whilst i did get in, i still do not have my flexi card...That to me is "stealing, Mr Lawn!"..U have my money i have NO card

Superb take up by the BCFC fans, 9,500+ season ticket/flexi card sales is truly fantastic, even BCFC fans in Sligo have taken the flexi option. A big well done to the club for thinking this scheme up. Proud to be a Bradford City fc fan!!!!
