Bradford City: Razor-sharp Kyel Reid looks for cutting edge against Rotherham
Kyel Reid reckons he can be a cut above Rotherham with his new shaved look.
The winger unveiled his “streamline” appearance at Watford on Tuesday – and came off the bench to smash his first goal of the season.
Now he is eyeing another scalp after joking that his bald bonce makes him even faster.
Reid said: “I got my barber to come to the hotel before the Watford game and he did me and Zavon (Hines).
“The lads gave me a bit of stick before the game, saying I’d skinned my head off. But it must have worked.
“I felt much lighter in myself and I can get down the line quicker!
“I didn’t quite have an Afro before but it was weighing me down a bit. Now I’m really fast.”
Reid’s rocket sparked the cup fightback, which was sealed by Garry Thomp-son’s dramatic goal in added time. But he sensed it was going to be his night during the pre-match warm-up.
“I knew I wasn’t starting so I just thought I’d have a few shots before the game and I hit quite a few decent ones.
“The gaffer’s been telling me to shoot more because I’ve got a good left foot. Once I get the ball on target, there’s no stopping it.
“When I saw that ball bounce down to me in the box, there was no other thought in my mind.
“There was nothing in the game and it was a great effort from the boys to keep digging in.”
With Watford dispatched, Reid admits the Yorkshire derby against the Millers cannot come soon enough.
“Our confidence is massive right now and we don’t want to take our foot off the pedal.
“We need to keep on top of our game and there won’t be any slacking.
“We know we’re a decent side and I think we’ve got a great chance there. The fans have been brilliant following us and I’m sure we can put on another good performance for them.
“We don’t fear anyone in this league, whether they are favourites or not. I think we’ve got one of the best sides.
“The gaffer and Steve Parkin have built a good squad here and our football is starting to gel together.”
