  • "Something we should all wish him. He came to the club as a proud man and appreciated the club for what it was and meant to us. He has continually engaged with fans, has always been positive when speaking about City and left with the same attitude.

He may have wanted to stay and fight for his place, strong self-belief is so important in any sportsman but he has probably been told it is futile so don't knock him on that.

Once again, I thank him for his efforts and hope his new arrival and new club bring him happiness and success."

Guy Branston leaves Bradford City

Guy Branston Guy Branston

Former skipper Guy Branston has left Bradford City.

Branston agreed to cancel his contract by mutual consent, even though he had another year to run.

Signed last summer by Peter Jackson, the well-travelled centre half found himself out of favour soon after Phil Parkinson took over.

He briefly went on loan to Rotherham before returning to the City ranks towards the end of the season when Andrew Davies and Luke Oliver were both suspended.

Branston made 19 appearances and scored one goal. But he was advised to look for a new club by Parkinson.
