The despots responsible for the Iraq war were Mr. Blair & Bush and their cronies, unless I missed something and there were in fact WMDs in Iraq and Saddam (installed and funded by the West, just like the Taliban) had in fact attacked us, and that he tried to harbour Al-Qaeda. A totally pointless and illegal war in a dreadful part of the world that wasn't worth one drop of any British serviceman's blood.
Bang on the money (excuse the pun) dapiackle :-)
What we ALL need to stop doing is believing what politicians say without question. What we ALL need to start doing is searching below the superficial stories that are printed in the media about why we should invade or attack other countries around the World. Then, when we have used our Brain to THINK and understand the REAL reasons we can then chose to either agree or disagree with those REAL reasons for what is being done in our name. Can anyone tell me why the Taliban were invited to Washington to discuss deals/contracts etc to run Gas and Oil pipes through Afghanistan if they were at that time, so unacceptable to the West? Guess what happened to Afghanistan a short period of time after the Taliban refused to do the deals with the major Energy Corporations re the pipelines? Why is the American Government trying it's damnedest to overthrow the Democratically elected president of Venezuela? Could it be something to do with Chavez trying to sell Oil based on the strength of the Euro instead of the Dollar? What's the real reason that threats are being made to attack Iran? Could it be something to do with Iran trying to sell Oil based on the strength of the Euro instead of the Dollar as opposed to another threat of WMD? Also, investigate what Saddam Hussein did as regards selling Oil based on the Euro and not the Dollar? Still haven't found those WMD's that threatened the West have we? Oh, and you might as well check on Tony Blair's ex-mate Gaddafi regarding Oil and the ditching of the Dollar. At the end of your investigations you might agree or disagree as to why we had to go to War, it's up to you -it's a free country, unless of course the American Government doesn't agree with you. The important thing is this: at least you should have reduced the amount of brainwashing and propaganda that is controlling your thoughtsand be basing your support -or otherwise- for these Wars/Conflicts armed with more information. Here is something to help you on your way: The end of the Dollar by Ron Paul www.lewrockwell.com/ paul/paul303.html
The thing is Lonnie, there is a big difference between questioning an 'illegal war' with a Country and 'defending/praising' their dictator. Yes, there are issues surrounding our involvement in the war against Iraq and the claims of WMD, as well as financing the purchase of weapons etc. However, there is absolutely no doubt that Hussein was guilty of war crimes against his own people and those in neighbouring countries. As such, I still do not understand why people such as Galloway put this man on a pedestal. He was, after all, a vile criminal, irrespective of whether it was our responsibility to capture/trial him..! . This has obviously been made worse by the subsequent capture, trial and execution of Hussein. Some of his 'followers' are now treating him as a modern day Martyr and he is certainly not one of those. . Let's be brutally honest about this. Galloway ONLY won his seat because of his views against the war on Iraq and his own opinion of Hussein. Had he been contesting the seat in a non-Asian community, he wouldn't have got anywhere near the number of votes that he did. Had he been running for the seat in Bradford South (for example), we wouldn't be having this debate. . As for his 'spin' above, I will believe it when I see it. If he can find wealthy backers that can take Bradford City forward and those backers are legit, I am all for it. As long as it isn't his 'dirty' money being invested, I don't see why others are against it. Surely progression is .... progression?
Correct - and you only have to look at the state of the areas the people who voted him in live in to see the irony of it.

'Respect' party voted in by the section of society with the least respect for themselves, other people or their surroundings.

It's not really worth arguing the point because like all Galloway's other promises, it'll come to nothing. Still, it's given us some entertainment for a day or two!
I visit a number of areas that around Bradford and Keighley that are far from what could be classed as 'Asian' areas and they are often strewn with litter, old carpets, old mattresses, needles, etc etc with folk walking around in the afternoon in their bedclothes. So you would have a difficult job convincing me that the people who have the 'least respect for themselves, other people or their surroundings' are only 'Asians'. I've found that challenging my own assumptions and prejudices helps me see things in a truer light. Maybe you should consider doing the same."

Political heavyweight George Galloway fighting Bradford City and Bradford Bulls' corner

George Galloway insists his pledge to bring Middle Eastern money to Valley Parade is no idle boast.

The city’s newest MP says he genuinely plans to use his worldwide contacts to attract investment for the Bantams.

But first he is in talks to try to help safeguard the future of the Bulls as they look for another £500,000 cash injection in the coming weeks.

Outspoken Galloway believes that reviving the fortunes of the two clubs is vital to save Bradford from “sinking”.

He is keen to sit down with City owners Mark Lawn and Julian Rhodes – once the Bulls have been taken off the critical list. Galloway told the T&A: “Their situation is marginally more perilous in a sense of days rather than a determinate amount of time. But both are in a difficult condition and if I can help, then I will.

We’ve got a city that is literally sinking in that big hole in the centre where Westfield should be. The sinking feeling about the football and rugby league clubs helps to portray the picture of a sinking city

George Galloway

“I’m doing my best to stave off the imminent disaster and see what can be done viz-a-viz sponsorship or even taking a share. That’s not me personally but people I can influence.

“As a sports lover and Bradford MP and somebody expected to make a difference, I’m starting with iconic things like City and the Bulls.

“To go from world champions of rugby league to being on the verge of going under is a pretty catastrophic drop.

“And City have been twice in admin and there is always a danger of a third. You don’t want to talk them down but they are in a bad situation financially and in terms of their position in the Football League.

“We’ve got a city that is literally sinking in that big hole in the centre where Westfield should be. The sinking feeling one gets about the football and rugby league clubs obviously helps to portray the picture of a sinking city.

“We want to pull ourselves up from that as quickly as possible and these two clubs are something I can influence.”

City have heard grand plans of investment before which have come to nothing. They will wait to see if Galloway’s words are more than just politician’s rhetoric.

The Bradford West MP, whose constituency includes Valley Parade, has been invited to the next home game against Macclesfield on April 21.

Galloway added: “If you’ve got a high profile and you have important international connections then we should try and put these two things together.

“I haven’t visited the football club yet but I do want to meet them. I want good relations with the people who are currently in charge.

“Both sporting stadia are impressive, iconic and historic. We need to join up our thinking on these things. It’s so important for the self image of Bradford.

“I watched Norwich beating Tottenham the other day. That’s a far smaller place than Bradford but what they are doing is pretty impressive.

“That’s the feelgood factor that sporting success can bring to a city.”

Lawn made it clear that City’s door is open.

He said: “I would love to think there’s something behind it. But if George is serious, we will speak to him at any time.

“If people want to invest in Bradford City and can do better than Julian and I, then we will gladly walk away. That has never changed.

"But there's nobody queuing to come in. The last one we talked to about investing was Steve Parkin and that never got beyond talking."
