Bradford City: Kyel Reid back in the fast lane

Kyel Reid is raring to go again after recovering from a hamstring injury Kyel Reid is raring to go again after recovering from a hamstring injury

Kyel Reid today issued a speed warning to City’s upcoming opponents: I’m still as quick as ever.

The jet-heeled winger hopes to make his first start of 2012 in Saturday’s trip to AFC Wimbledon.

With the Crawley game frozen off, Reid has had another week’s training to sharpen his act for the Wombles.

Reid returned earlier than expected from his injured hamstring to deliver a lively half hour from the bench against Bristol Rovers 11 days ago.

And he promised that any defender hoping his velocity might be sapped by the recent absence is going to be disappointed.

Reid said: “There’s no chance of me slowing down. Pace is my main thing and I won’t lose that.

“As a wide man, you’ve got to be explosive with short sprints. So we’ve tried to build the hamstring up and make it as strong as possible to do those runs."

the right side of Wimbledon's defence is weak. ALDERSHOT'S LEFT BACK SCORED TWO BY BEATING THE RIGHT BACK AND SHOOTING IMMEDIATELY.

The game may not go ahead due to frozen pitches in the south east over this last week!!:check before travelling

Fingers crossed you can show the form you showed when you first arrived.

For a few weeks building up to your injury when receiving the ball you seemed to stall when the full back stood you up and before you had chance to do anything they had doubled up on you.

Please don't give them time to re-group when u get the ball.

If this forthcoming match is postponed; That will make 3 Matches to be re-arranged, and to be played later in the Season. That could be another lifeline for City, if they are still in a relegation threat.
*
I hope Kyel's hamstrings are now strong enough and tough enough for him to last the remainder of this Season. But , I would concentrate on more close trickery, and change of pace work. Speed is not everything today; Whereas change of pace and direction, with quick one two's are more likely to confuse defenders, and lead to scoring goals.
*
Defenders, especially backs, love a speed race to the goal/by line--to see who is fastest and can match their speed attempts. A bit like a 100 metre sprint, of which they are all good at achieving, and defending.

i have a mate whose a true Don: itch is not good at best of times but with frost on it there seems to be little hope it will go ahead unless overnight temperatures increase suddenly (WHICH IT IS NOT LIKELY TO DO) the your train tickets for a match will be wasted

Thanks for the advance warning TYKER2. I was about to purchase train tickets today. Sorry for BIG CHRIS , especially as the advance purchase tickets are not refundable!!. I have had to write off a fair amount of money, on advance purchase tickets in the past, for several reasons. The rail Companies are coining in money, with their NON - REFUNDABLE Condition.
*
Perhaps an afternoon matinee West End Show for Big Chris for part of the Winmbledon gate money. But the last train back, is 20.30 if I recall correctly-- to avoid the drunken football hooligans - Going back to 'WEEDS' etc. No good for evening West End Shows, that finish later around 22.30!.

I'm with you on this point fatbloke. Reid clearly has the ability and on his day, he can rip apart the best of defences. However, prior to his injury, he clearly wasn't performing as well as he had done previously.
.
I like to see wingers mix it up a little. Reid does tend to wait until he gets the ball before he starts to attack the fullback and sometimes, as you refer, ends up with the opposition doubling up due to his hesitency. I would like to Reid start some of his runs BEFORE he receives the ball as this would make it harder for the opposition to double up.
.
I just hope we get to see Reid doing what he does best and that is running at defences at pace and putting in decent crosses. We have missed that over the last few months. Anyone else like to see Atkinson start on the right?

last time I looked HOCKNEY EXHIBITION was entrance by ticket only and there were few tickets left: may have changed since so check before you turn up decked up in your claret and amber.

You may get in as a Harry Potter extra though!!
