Bradford City manager Phil Parkinson will not go shopping for loan players

Simon Ramsden is City's one remaining player on the injury list Simon Ramsden is City's one remaining player on the injury list

Phil Parkinson will resist the open loan window because of City’s clean bill of health.

Football League clubs can start borrowing players again from tomorrow when the emergency system restarts for the next six weeks.

But with the Valley Parade sick bay emptying, Parkin-son sees no immediate need for any more short-term replacements.

Simon Ramsden is the only casualty currently out of the equation and the City boss is hoping for good news when the defender presents his broken toe to the specialist again on Thursday.

But Kyel Reid and Luke Oliver are both back in the mix – and would have played against Crawley – and skipper Michael Flynn is also pushing for his first outing since December 16.

Parkinson said: “I’m not looking at the moment because we’re okay. We’re just working hard this week to get the ones who have been injured up to speed.

“Reidy and Olly will have another good physical week and Flynny’s getting closer too.

“It’s good to have a clean slate again, especially if we can get Rammers back soon. We’ve got a lot of games coming up in the next month so we’ll need to use the squad.”

City’s youngsters could be the only loan departures. Darren Stephenson recently joined Stocksbridge PS in the Evo-Stik League and Dominic Rowe is expected to go out on another temporary spell after a previous stint with Barrow.

Dean Overson and Andrew Burns are also being targeted for loan experience.

Parkinson added: “They’re all available to go but I don’t see any others apart from those four. The window is obviously available now in case things change but at present there’s not going to be much happening.”

Meanwhile, the wintry weather was expected to rule out a behind-closed-doors game against Barnsley today.

who cares what he calls them so long as results continue to improve and we get out of the mire with some more convincing away performances and some winning performances at home.

I really hope those 4 go on loan and do really well like Rowe already did at Barrow. Im gutted the lad hasnt had a chance on the right already but maybe he's not ready yet but worth a chance i'd say.

Im looking forward to Burns eventually taking over Rammers at right back and seeing Rowe on the right wing someday.

Hopefully PP will see the potential too and eventually start them and get them some experience with us especially once the season is safe when we cant go up or down

TVOR, Unfortunately we have some 'supporters' who would be 'disgruntled' and wanting Managers and Chairmen replaced regardless of what league we were in -just like the Leeds fans who wanted shut of Grayson and want Bates out. I agree with KnightMcCall. Some supporters have such a negative mindset that it would be easier for them to escape a black hole than their natural/or nurtured negativity. They are incapable of recognising and acknowledging individuals positive efforts and genuine commitment to improving the Clubs they support but can spot and magnify an imperfect decision or human error from the dark side of the moon.

'Emergency Loans' are being outlawed by FIFA starting with the 2014/15 season.

Therefore, in thory at least, it looks like Managers will be more likely to play some of their younger players because they wont be able to bring in players from other Clubs on an emergency loan basis (a loan that lasts from 28 to 93 days to cover injuries). So if are the believing type, and your prayers are answered, and the City squad is devastated with injuries -AGAIN- then (in theory) the younger players get some 1st Team experience.

BUT, if that rule was in place at this moment in time it would have probably prevented Rowe, Stephenson, Overson and Burns from getting loaned out. As well as this, my understanding is, Clubs will only be able to do 'long-term' loans which have to commence before the 31st of December and run until the end of the season and players can not be brought back to the lending Club whilst still at the ORIGINAL 'borrowing' Club.

What sort of effect, if any, will this have on the DS strategy? And what realistic chance is there of the young players getting a game with the Club that owns them under that rule, especially, if you can't recall your young players at the back-end of the season when you are floating around in the doldrums and could safely give the youngsters a run of games in the 1st eleven?
.
If I have misunderstood how this ruling for 2014 then please let me know somebody.

SHAUN!!!!!!!, whats your thoughts on this?

Lonnie, where can we find details of FIFA's proposals? Is there a link you can direct us to (instead of having to manually search for it)?
.
In terms of your post, I would just like to comment on one part (for now);
"BUT, if that rule was in place at this moment in time it would have probably prevented Rowe, Stephenson, Overson and Burns from getting loaned out". Although this is very true, the reality is that, had the ruling already been in place, the likes of Rowe and Burns, in particular, would have featured in OUR first team instead of being loaned out. For example, instead of signing Kozluk to cover Ramsden's injury, Burns would have been an option and instead of the number of wingers signed over the last month, Rowe would surely have been given a run. No?

I think you might have a point there Waynus but there is a possibility that Stewart, Mitchell etc would be chosen in front of them due to their greater experience -which I would not have an issue with by the way. The net result being that the 'DS' types would be stuck with only the odd reserve game to play in. This would not meet the existing aim of developing the DS types by playing them in tough, competitive, competition football that is intended to stretch them but not have them making too big a jump in quality in too soon a time for their existing experience and qualities.
.
In respect of Rowe, I agree, when I have seen him play in the 1st Team he impressed me and just needs games in the 1st Team when the crowd are less stressed and will accept any mistakes he might make -or less than brilliant performances- so that his short/long-term confidence is not put at major risk.
.
The best way I can link you to the story is for you to copy and paste what I have printed below. It was taken from the 'Telegraph' 21st Dec 2011. :
