Bradford City striker Craig Fagan says teams are starting to fear coming to Valley Parade again

Craig Fagan can sense a wind of change in the Valley Parade air.

City’s record on their own patch this season is nothing to write home about. They have lost as many as they’ve won.

But it is over two months since the last defeat against Rotherham – six games if you include the FA Cup victory over Wimbledon.

And while the last two ended with frustrating late equalisers, City are starting to give their army of season-ticket holders something to cheer.

Fagan has noticed a different feel within the home crowd and believes they can finally use the best base in the division to their own advantage.

He said: “The gaffer has changed a lot of things and the way we play. We’re a lot more resilient now, apart from the odd goal we’ve conceded in the past few games, and the fans are starting to enjoy it.

We’ve got the biggest following on a match day in League Two and there’s nothing worse than when they’re against you

“Clubs are finding it harder to come to our place and get results. Before, I felt it was too easy for them.

“The fans understand we are working hard and they can see that a lot more in games.

“There’s more of a buzz around the place and that comes from the lads on the pitch. You want to get the crowd going.

“Before, there was more of a negative vibe. People were going to the matches thinking ‘how many are we going to get beaten by today?’

“Some were turning up ready to have a go at the team. But now, because of the performances, the fans have been great and getting behind us.

“We’ve got the biggest following on a match day in League Two and there’s nothing worse than when they’re against you.

“You want them on your side and it’s been great to have that.

“I think teams are starting to fear coming to our place and it’s been a hell of a long time since the club has been able to say that.”

Not that the stand-in skipper is getting too carried away ahead of the daunting prospect of Crawley’s visit tomorrow.

With no win so far in 2012, City are still hovering too close to the relegation zone for comfort despite Phil Parkinson’s manager-of-the-month title for December.

Fagan added: “We need to kick on again. We went on that little run but we’ve had a few disappointing results since.

“We’re playing well enough but we need to start winning games again.”

Saturday’s loss at Bristol Rovers was Fagan’s 20th start for the club – a run which he is confident has removed any lingering concerns over his recovery from a year on the sidelines.

Fagan said: “You have one season out and then all of a sudden become this injury-prone person. But that’s not the case.

“I knew it was never going to be an overnight thing after missing so much. But I came here to play football, I’ve enjoyed it and I’ve given my all for the team.

“There have been times when I’ve played on a Saturday and could have said I didn’t fancy the Tuesday game but I’ve carried on. I’ve no doubts I’ve put myself on the line for the club and never shirked any responsibility.

“I’m just enjoying being here. You can sense there’s a better atmosphere round the place and it’s a lot more bubbly.”

One thing the opposition won't fear though is attacking our right wing with you there

Do you understand that concept of being a "supporter"?

Here's to a 1-0 win to City with Fagan scoring the winner...

It definitely doesn't help and is the sort of mentality that has helped get us to where we are today Dan. Too many people fail to recognise the importance of support, it is a vital cog in any succesfull operation, be it at football, be it at work or in your relationships, lack of support usually leads to lack of confidence which in turn leads to mistakes and in the football scenario leads to defeats.

No guarantee that great support will provide the necessary to produce three points but it won't harm.

But do listen to the little grumbles of dissatisfaction too PP and players, out of the odd moan and grumble come valid points. Craig, have a go at your full backs, you can do it you just seem to have lost a bit of confidence in yourself, knock and run, swing that right boot and drop it on Jimmy's head. You will get massive cheers if you do fella.

A while back i contacted David Baldwyn after the Luton game. I asked the club to praise, via our Pa system, our away support who were tremendous that game, to be as loud and inspiring at Valley Parade. He said they could not do it because referee could see it as "inciting the crowd", which apparently is a crime in modern football. We can use the Pa system to broadcast anti racist messages etc but not mesages that would enhance the whole Valley Parade experience and possibly get the club's to play its trump card, our crowd, all four stands to chant as one. ...

... cont The only way messages along these lines can be got to supporters, he said, was via comments made by the manager on radio, T and A articles or posters. I asked if Bcfc supporters clubs communicate with each other, he did not think so. So one of City's greatest untapped resource, the potential energy that our great supporters could generate, remains virtually untapped! We surely can not leave it up to the passionate pocket of maybe 20 or more in the Kop , 10 'ish in the Midland rd and 20 in the Bradford End, to rouse the other 10000. -

cont I feel we need to find some means of communication to encourage each stand to do their bit. It would be entertaining as well as functional. We should have the reputation of the likes of Stoke City or pompie, but we haven't, we're known for the size of ground and large attendance, that's all! I would appreciate posters comments.

He's so right, I feel frightened most places in Bradford at how low the city had sunk, but not at VP though more like pity, digust and apathy all mixed in to one.

I think you need to re-read the article Sean - Fagan clearly alludes to the piont you make, mentions a mini run that was good and says we need to do it again to progress after a fairly fruitless month despite playing well and working hard as a team.

3 points tomorrow to break the 2012 hoodoo would be just rewards for our play so far this year.

I'll be chucking my full support in as usual.

Seriously, why don't you just f*ck off you pathetic, whingeing troll? It's impossible to believe you genuinely class City as being your team (I refuse to describe you as a fan or supporter), why dont you offer your pearls of 'wisdom' on L666s or Scummersfield sites instead you complete saddo (thats assuming you even like football at all - you certainly know f*ck all about it)

Fagan can certainly talk the talk !
However we are and have been all season near the bottom of the leaque and i am sure that even the most optimistic of our supporters must have a little concern at times.
My main concern is that JM remains injury free for the rest of the season, plus with players coming back from injuries i hope we can collect sufficient points to keep us stress free before the end of the season which i might add is approaching fast.
