6:53pm Monday 30th January 2012 in Bantams Exclusive By Simon Parker
Luke O'Brien's move to Exeter City is back on tonight, the T&A understands.
The way was cleared for the left back to make the switch after the Grecians sold defender Scott Golbourne to Barnsley.
Exeter had been keen to bring in O'Brien, who has been out of the picture with City, but were not in a financial position to do so unless they moved a player on.
Phil Parkinson had criticised the League One club for not being able to go through with the deal. But with Golbourne bound for Oakwell for an undisclosed sum, it opens the door for O'Brien to move south.

In view of tyker 2 's post re Hanson and Rhodes it is interesting to note the betting on J Rhodes to be signed by Norwich tomorrow has gone from 20 to 1 then 10 to 1 and at the moment is 11 to 10 that is a lot of betting this pm . If he does go i wonder re tykers suggestion that they may go for Hanson ?? Tomorrow could be another interesting day at city. Will it be comings and goings or carry on as you were. I wonder.

I have mentioned in one of my other posts my frustration at some of our recent Managers not being able to improve players that we already have at the Club and resort to mass changes of personnel. OB, is an example of a player that should have had his distribution of the ball improved instead of simply being rejected as no longer good enough. Why can't any of these professional Managers/Coaches improve these weakneses when you have the likes of OB who always gave 100% and was one of the most consistant players of the last few seasons? He's that 'poor' a Team from a higher league want him!
Got to be more concerned with the love for O'B by a few on here. Seip or O'B in the starting line up. Seip the one who can defend and tries to pass the ball or O'B who for about a year hasn't blocked crosses, has forgotten how to tackle and likes to play kick and chase. O'B has had his chances. His confidence has gone. It had gone long before PP came in. How anyone can blame PP for his downturn in performance which literally started last season is fooling themselves. Maybe we should look back at McCall and Taylor for trying to make him into a left mid. Jacko destroyed what confidence he did have left in the summer. The lad looks confused and doesn't know what to do on the ball these days. His positional sense has become poor too and often looks caught in two minds.
However, a change of venue and new environment to work in might just spark an upturn in his fortunes. Would like to see him back to his best, but that will have to be away from VP unfortunately. This is football. Things don't pan out as you imagine. If only he had continued to play like he had the season he won the player of the season award, then he would never have been dropped in the 1st place.
It's shame as he is a local lad and a product of the youth academy, but unfortunately individual's and clubs have to move on. Good luck Luke in the future.
(Before I am criticised, if this deal does collapse and Luke does stay, I will be giving 100% support if he gets the chance to regain his place. But with his contract due to expire in the summer this seems highly unlikely.)

I've watched the squad training and never witnessed any individual coaching whilst I've been there. Instead, we bring in loan players who, in a number of cases, have been no better than the permanent members of the squad. Surely, if you have players whose personal qualities and basic skills fit the bill, it makes sense to work with them on improving their game.chin up wrote: Got to be more concerned with the love for O'B by a few on here.
