Bradford City: Phil Parkinson has a pop at Exeter over Luke O'Brien's on-off move

The Luke O’Brien deal is off for now following his wasted journey to west country The Luke O’Brien deal is off for now following his wasted journey to west country

Phil Parkinson today took a swipe at Exeter as he welcomed Luke O’Brien back into the City fold.

The long-serving left back’s move has stalled because the League One side need to move a player on first.

The transfer window shuts tomorrow night and Parkinson wants O’Brien to switch his attentions back to Valley Parade. But the City boss also had a pop at Exeter for stringing the defender along.

He said: “We let OB go for talks then all of a sudden Exeter told us they’re not in a position financially to go through with the deal.

“They spoke to him (a week) last Friday in a hotel in Oldham. Once you’ve had that initial chat, there’s no way you should then take him all the way down there without being able to go through with it.

“Whether that still happens I don’t know but at the moment it’s not.

“I told him on Thursday that he would not be included this weekend but if the deal’s not done by Monday, you come back in the training ground, roll your sleeves up and get ready to go again.”

O’Brien could be needed after Rob Kozluk picked up City’s fifth red card of the campaign in the 2-1 defeat at Bristol Rovers.

Hopefully this episode will spur OB on and help him get back to his best.
.
On another note - them 2 decisions on Saturday were terrible. How Kozluk got booked for that is beyond me yet their centre forward can go around committing fouls when he wishes. Also, that penalty decision was awful but it didn't help that Reid didn't go down. Would have been a very good point or 3 otherwise.

What a Joke, 'get ready to go again!' for what you made your feelings clear that you don't like him.
If he can't get in side above the incredibly poor threlfall then god knows whats happening at VP.
P.s. O'Brien is one of the only players we have that looks like they try every single time and actually puts tackles in.
Good luck O'B where ever you end up.

"Stringing the player along"
.
You mean like we did with Benson?

OB to left back, Seip to RB, Ollie back in at CH. More or less specialist positions covered by specilaists. Taylor going back to Leeds also opens the door a bit wider for him.

Benson failed his medical - OB didn't get that far.

OB had one bad game back in Oct or Nov and he hasn't had a look in since. He deserves his chance as imo he is a better left back than Threlfall. I just hope he can win Parkinson round.

please keep OB! brilliant player, yeah okay soft tackles at times but he is a good player and has good stamina and can push forward when no one else will, and in my opinion his defending is pretty good just because he's not 6ft and built like elikobi doesnt make him rubbish,

Benson is in good enough nick for Swindon and scoring as well

I hope OB has not failed his medical.
Scott Golbourne, Exeter full back has agreed personal terms with Barnsley and he will be transferred subject to his medical today.
Therefore it would appear OB is/was to be the replacement ?
IMO we must have better players in our squad than Threfall who appears to be most dissinterested and alseep on the pitch at times.
