Bradford City full back pair surplus to requirements in rebuilding work
8:20am Monday 25th July 2011 in Bantams
By Simon Parker, Bradford City Reporter
Bolton goalkeeper Adam Bogdan feels the full force of a challenge by City striker James Hanson
Lewis Hunt and Robbie Threlfall have both been told they have no future with City.
Peter Jackson is trying to get the two full backs out of Valley Parade to free up his budget for more signings.
Neither player was in the squad which performed so well in yesterday’s 4-1 loss to Bolton and the City boss confirmed: “We’ve said to them that they can go if they find a club.
“But it’s extremely hard to do that because there are a lot of players out there.
“It’s important that we try to get some out with the budget as tight as it is. We’re looking to maybe bring more in but obviously we’ve got to get them out first.”
Luke Oliver was also missing as he recovers from injury but he is not on the manager’s exit list.

Jackson said: “Luke’s injured at the moment but he doesn’t fall into that bracket.”

But even if these two go and two more come in is it just me or does the squad look a bit threadbare for next season?!

Others questioned my observations regarding this player but he is not a full-back and is only a steady centre-half at best. I do though hope he improves and can still find a place within football as he moved his family into the area and showed the right attitude.
threfall is a diffrent debate. the lad i feel is inconsistent and his pro's and con's to his game probably explain this. he still has an opportunity to make it as a pro somewhere but due to our smaller squad is having full backs on our list of priorities??

Serves you right Hunt for holding City to ransom and spitting your dummy out.Well done Jackson for being honest and telling those players that they are no longer needed.Hope the new season goes well and we fans have something to cheer. The chairmen deserve a pat on the back as well. They have had some stick from fans and others would have walked away but they have stuck with us.Security words (rise-upon) should have been rise up.

I have heard theat Jacko wants another 4 players and if Hunt and threlfall do leave their wages should allow us to be able to do that as they are classed high earners

Threlfall catches the eye with his shooting and dead balls but he never impresses with his defending, which is his main job.
Hunt seems to lack the basic skills required at even 4th division level.
We need better if we are aiming for the play-offs.

Personally, I would get rid of Bully as I see no role for him next season. I would also tell Osborne to find a new club too. Neither have a future at City.

Not saying I'd keep him but please don't attack someone who actually did do the correct thing by us on a personal level at least, he wasn't the best player we had but he did move his family into the area and so could be understood wanting to earn a new contract at the club.

Threlfall started well but like many. with contract in hand, seem to fall away and out of favour.
Olliver who was a nightmare last season is still retained probably as back up for the aged Branston and the erratic Williams.
