Peter Taylor today insisted the goals would come after City fired their latest blank.
Saturday’s Valley Parade loss to Port Vale – their fourth on the trot – sunk Taylor’s side to third from bottom. And just as worryingly, they failed to hit the target for the third league game running.
City have scored just twice in five League Two outings – and not managed to net from open play since Tom Adeyemi fired them in front at leaders Shrewsbury on the first day.
They are also missing last season’s top scorer James Hanson, who will be sidelined for a few weeks with the hamstring injury he suffered against Southend.
Despite the result, Taylor saw positive signs and still believes his side can get back on the rails.
“I’m fully aware of the goals we’ve scored and I think the most important thing is to try and create chances,” he said.
“Against Stevenage and Southend, we didn’t really create too much, but I think we did that a bit more (on Saturday).
“It is a concern for me but if we create more, there’s a fair chance we might start scoring a goal. How we didn’t score just before half-time and then in the second half amazed me.
“The performance was a lot better than the other two at home and that’s a plus for me. I thought we did a lot better than the officials, who got it wrong on a few occasions.”
Taylor was angry that referee David Coote did not spot a Vale handball before giving the corner which led to their first-half opener. Both sides also felt they should have had penalties.
But the Bantams boss had no excuses for Vale’s “comical” second, when Jon McLaughlin miscontrolled Tommy Doherty’s poor backpass to gift the goal away.
“You’re trying to chase the game and that’s going to kill you whether you’re low on confidence or not,” said Taylor.
“But we’ve got to stick together and keep working hard on the training field. We did that this week and I saw some good signs. It’s up to the players to keep doing that again.
“Nobody’s going to give you anything in football. You’ve got to work extremely hard to deserve it.”

Having been a season ticket holder at BCFC since Roy McFarland was manager many moons ago, I am just as equally frustrated by what is occuring down at VP right now as everyone else!
BUT, and it is a big BUT........!!!
During this time I have never once chosen to boo anyone wearing the claret and amber of BCFC!
Yes, as a supporter you can get annoyed with players, managers and even chairmen for various decisions and goings on!
But when people boo amongst a crowd, it is like a complaint from someone with no bottle!
Anyone can stand amongst a crowd and boo, but how many would have the balls to stand on there own in front of PT and Tommy Doherty right now and boo them????
I bet you could count on 1 hand the amount who would!
Any experienced person in any walk of life can make more accurate judgements about people the older and wiser they become!
PT has been there and done it at all levels in football and as each week goes by, he must think more and more about what an absolute bunch of spineless t-o-s-s-e-r-s BCFC supporters are when they boo!!!
Never mind using CCTV to ban hooligans, use it to ban people booing, because they are not supporting!
PT is the man who can get this club promoted and i'm amazed at the lack of support he is getting from what I use to think were a pretty decent and loyal bunch of fans!
The amount of narrowminded supporters at BCFC who don't understand the game is gob-smacking!
After only 5 games of the season, people are doubting a man with such a fantastic promotion record!
As Kammy would say, unbelievable Jeff!!!

So skyblogger has put his hand up and admitted that he is one of the boo-boys! Well you narrow-minded, spineless, clueless, thick gob-****! If you read my post above, I have not at any time said that all this is the fans fault. What I have said is that by choosing to boo is not helping anyone and that you are not supporting BCFC by booing! Not 1 mention of it being the fans fault! I agree that things are not good at the moment, but I also know that there is nobody better than PT to get us out of it! So you are not only a spineless coward for booing, but you are thick and can't fully understand written English aswell! Skyblogger, you have just put yourself forward as being exactly one of those t-o-s-s-e-r-s that I mentioned above, unbelievable Jeff!!!

I can't comment on Saturdays performance as cricketing commitments...thankf ully!... still prevent me from attending Saturday games. But personally I think the problems at the club run far deeper than who's manger, players and tactics etc. If rumours are to believed, it appears one of our joint chairman has again fallen out with the manager (as he allegedly did early in McCall's reign), with Taylor apparently telling said joint chairman to sack him...but it'll cost the club £250k. There's a pattern begining to emerge here...with one common denominator...our joint chairman!

the bottom line is that without Lawn's money we would be dead in the water.:however he is now in a difficult position as he cannot effectively withdraw his money as that would put us into administration and he would get virtually nothing back. it is not dissimilar to a bank:; you owe them a couple of hundred quid and it 's your problem:if you owe the bank a million the bank has the problem. Thus if the allegations are true that director and director and director and manager are not talking to each other we are akin to the Titanic:no leadership leading to inevitable destruction. For goodness sake the club cannot go in the right direction until all charged with responsibility for running it are in harmony and working together to get up the league again. Without that harmony we will continue to slide further and further into oblivion. I for one do not want that:I am sure 10000 plus season ticket holders do not want that and I am darned sure that the directors do not want that. So the message is to those in charge: bury the hatchet, start talking and working together and then, only then, can the club progress again.

You are continuing a thread (that started with the question of why fans boo) by questioning our joint chairman. It is a rumour that he has fallen out with Taylor and/or Rhodes. Why give it your time and effort? . It was the same last season. We couldn't buy a win, so suddenly somebody claims that Lawn & McCall had fallen out. Now it appears the same rumour has started again. Just ignore it. What will be will be.

If we are going to play 4-4-2 then we need to sign at least another winger.
At the moment we've only got Daley, who is struggling for form after his long term injury, and Osborne, who I view as only a squad player, as our only out and out wingers.
While O'Brien has done ok on the left, he is hardly going to consistently beat his man as he is essentially a full back, and Evans certainly isn't a winger.
We need someone who can get round the back of teams and stretch them.
