An improvement on last Friday but could it get any worse to be fair?

I would rather have Barry Conlon in the side then Garteh Evans.
The fact he starts before Moult says it all for me, I can't see Taylor been here for much longer.

our 3 points to date were day light robbery. Unlike last year when we lost we were the better team by far. This year we loose and deserve too. I dont blame the manager as he has limited funds despite all you hear. We are rotten at the core and whilst Lawn is still at our club the disharmony around the whole camp will continue.

However Lawn did not pick Evans over Moult, what a ridiculous decision.

Thirty minutes gone, Doherty picks up cheap possesion and all there is in front of him is Speight who is marked and Evans who is also marked.
Speight runs left and takes his man, creating space, what does Evans do? He stands more or less in front of Doherty which makes it easy for his marker to head towards Doherty and makes the pass to himself difficult.

Evans you thick tw@t you run right and either Doherty as a clear run at goal or you man goes to him and you are in space, your are so sh1te it is untrue.

Yes it was one bad mistake, and thats what it was, a mistake but then on the radio Taylor blames the Goalkeeper !!!! that i just don,t get.

City fans might be impatient and critical, but four times more of them put bums on seats than at most other league two (and one) clubs.

He is using a scapegoat he has not brought in. Its a different approach to mccall who was too protective with his players. But Taylor has been there and dont it. I think he is the right man if he was to work with a chairman other than a control freak.

Why is it we don't play with 11 men! Daley has finally been dropped as he cost us the game against Southend - he was an absolute spare part - Good news I thought.

But this week we play with only 8 men!
Doherty is not interested in playing for BCFC - he just wants a paycheque. His body language in the last 2 games says it all.
Now he has the luxury of a contract Threfalls form has dipped badly and Lewis Hunt - who??

I can believe the rumours mentioned above - the whole situation sticks to me. However if it is the case then the problem would seem to be in the board room - there is a common theme of falling out and not getting on with people.

i can,t understand why you call your own fans fickle, although i dont like the booing. but after 10 years of poor football and broken promises surley even the true city fans can see the frustration and sometimes its just frustration boiling over, in the bradford end fans were very frustrated, and were slating each other, i know i am very frustrated and feel like packing it in altogether but because im a city fan ill be their next home game as normall. but as for next season who knows, maybe this will be my final season because after the last 10 years i simply cant take any more frustration...

Not taken personally, this is a forum for healthy debate. I was referring to Evans and Moult. I like Evans as an honest hard working player, however he hasn't started the season well and I now think perhaps Moult should be given a chance up front, not on the wing. He is clearly a gifted player who gets under the skin of the opposition which in turn will put them off their game. It's just my opinion that contracted players should be given a fair go first but as above I agree its maybe time for a change. I still believe PT will get it right but I'm starting to realise why our players are uneasy about playing st home when they're one mistake away from being villified by their own supporters.

It could be worse, we could follow the egg chasers!

you will be able to tell right away if the rumour you have heard is right regarding taylor and lawn is true. Lawn's pawns on the OMB will start questioning taylors tactics etc etc after being 100% behind him. Its not rocket science. McCall deserved better, and Taylor deserves better. Rotten at the core

Well, I suppose we can all now accept that Stuart McCall not wearing a suit on the sideline was not the reason for City not winning games? I hope so!

A better performance for me, obviously frustrated and disappointed we lost but we better today and were beaten by a better Team. Doherty is a very good player as far as I am concerned (a poor back-pass yep but that happens) and made himself available for a pass for the whole of the game, some excellent one touch passes when under pressure and yet he ends up getting booed! -I would love to see those booing morons playing football I really would. Syers and Speight had good games. Disappointed with Evans's shooting, can't fault his effort but we need effort plus effectiveness as well. What has really surprised me this season is the amount of goals we are conceding under PT -and the morons don't even have Clarkey or Zesh to scream abuse at for those soft goals. Some are saying 'it's going to be a long season', good, we need time to get on track, and hopefully the booers will lose their voices from overuse. Keep your chin up Tommy Doc.

Lonnie agree about Syers, Speight and Doherty..
I thought Threfall was awful and should have gone off and O'B reverted to right back, instead Taylor took off O'B which I and many others around me could not believe

4 things to say about today:

1) the booing of Doherty is a disgrace - he is by far our best player and yeah he made an hash and i'm not blaming Jon but why didn't he just volley it away instead of trying to control it?

2) Doherty is the only player we have who played today with a true footballing brain and if i actually feel sorry for him having to play with that shower - although i thought speight & duff were ok.

3)if it's true that lawn has burned his bridges with PT ALREADY then he needs to stay out of footballing matters and do his job which is upstairs int he boardroom and let the manager get on with it - didn't richmond get slated for similiar?

4) 4th and more importantly in my eyes is that i have never witnessed a more sulky and poor player then evans and i may add that i have never known a more numb CF play for us - and before you say it i never boo but jesus christ i feel like it sometimes. Doherty played well except for a couple of mistakes ,for some idiots to boo the fella after that beggars belief..clowns everyone of them.Thought Taylor made a mistake by substituting O'Brien,i'd have moved him to left back and taken Threlfall out of the firering line as his confidence looks shot to pieces.Speight was excellent(what was he doing at Mansfield) Syers..another very good and solid display,he's got a ton of bottle.Although i'm gutted BCFC lost i thought there were some decent performances down a VP today from a few of the BCFC players.If i was Taylor i'd be looking to bring in a more experienced keeper,i'm a big fan of Jonny Mac but it isn't happening for him at the minute,i don't know what the new goalkeeping coach is doing but JM hasn't looked the same player this season.

I think you mean left back -sorry if I am being pedantic- I agree with you on that fatbloke. OB would have still added to our attacking moves whilst at left back through his overlapping runs.Unfortunately Robbie T was trying to knock too many long balls, they didn't come off and his confidence started to wain -I think- because of this. He didn't seem to want to accept the ball from McClaughlin which then often result in 'big boot' upfield.

Even under Stuart....i think he deserves a little more credit than that,all McCall lacked was a little luck IMHO...he could certainly motivate the players.
I'm sure Taylor will get it right,he was right about the handball given as a corner,a disgracful decision by the linesman and it was a clear penalty as he was dropped a yard inside the box.The PV player who handballed the ball should have been sent off later in the game for a couple more blatent handballs curiously missed by the officials.

My god i have spent how long sifting through most of that drivel. Only a few posts made any sense. It was never a pen he threw himself 5 yards into the box not fouled in it. Jon was a little to blame as he should have just got rid but most has to go to doc for the back passfrom hell although he had a great game. That seat doesn't exist fella lol....and it was a penalty..i was sat about six yards from the foul...it was down to the lino who said it was outside the box no doubt trying to make up for the total **** up leading to their first goal.

The writing has been on the wall for the last 8 or 9 years, when we've been in free fall.

Lawn's antics will now commit us to relegation.

The man must have a serious personality disorder and he's going to be responsible for our demise. I can't see us winning more than five games all season, which means were gonners.

might be wrong but i thought Docherty ran the show when we were getting on top in the 2nd half.

might be wrong but i thought Docherty ran the show when we were getting on top in the 2nd half.

i haven't got a bad word to say about the man apart from feeling sorry for a man who has much talent playing with this shower - my body language would be the same.....in fact i'd have probably just took my shirt off half way through and said f**k it!!!
when he played against us a couple of years ago under PT at wycombe he had players given him options and his passing ripped us to bits and he showed glimpses today that he will find the man providing they give him options. i spoke to him at the first day of training and he gave the same impression then so i just think it's his personbality in truth

in the premiership promotion season we were in the bottom four i believe after 10 games with if my memory is correct only 4 points. So i would feel that we may be perhaps panicking to early despite admitting that it has not been acceptable thus far

Genuine wing men is what we are lacking. Daley and playing O'Brien, Evans and Moult out of position isn't the answer. Speight will cause defences problems all season when the opposing centre half isn't holding his shirt from the second they step on the pitch to the final whistle. I don't recall him getting a single free kick for having his shirt pulled. Regarding the penalty shout, Jonathan Edwards won Olympic gold with a shorter triple jump than the one the Port Vale player did to get into the penalty area before he went down. Stop having a go at the players and get behind them starting at Stockport on Saturday. This can still be turned round if people stick together, that includes players and supporters. We have as big a role to play as anybody. CTID.

exactly - that incident just shows how many players we have who aren't up for it....i'd be ashamed to leave my team mate like that. that incident just highlights to me that PT is fighting an impossible fight - it appears that he has tried to install discipline into them to make them more professional and they dont like it....they know where the door is.

I think our narrow tactics kill his game, we have people stood on his toe's and the movement up front for him from Evans! is non existent, serioulsy I mean the team, not just Evans...

On a serious note (sorry I will try stop moaning about Evans) I really feel sorry for Doherty at present. Hopefully Flynny will help him and I have been very impressed with what I have seen to date from Syers.

Deserve to start in my opinion from what I have seen so far this season...last week I had 4 now I have 7. Just 4 more to find, Flynn and Ramsden will make it 9 when fit. Jig-saw nearly comple. Future is not so bleak after all.

i've been away on holiday and have heard the poor performances. What i'd like to know is where and when have these Lawn rumours emerged and is the source a good one?
PS i missed the fighting so what what happened there.

On reflection they aren't a bad side and on another day we couuld have got a result. They were rocking at one stage before the mistake. My main concern (amongst a few) is the lack of actual attempts on goal. There were a lot of crosses but no one there. Little support from midfield in the box. Adeyemi has for me been none existent in the little i have seen of him. Would be good to see (a fit) Flynn playing in front of Docherty.

I'm not impressed obviously but neither am i panicking. More concerned about the off-field stuff. I have questioned Lawn's involvement in the past but will hang-fire untill there is a definate story emerging.

Genuine wing men is what we are lacking. Daley and playing O'Brien, Evans and Moult out of position isn't the answer. Speight will cause defences problems all season when the opposing centre half isn't holding his shirt from the second they step on the pitch to the final whistle. I don't recall him getting a single free kick for having his shirt pulled. Regarding the penalty shout, Jonathan Edwards won Olympic gold with a shorter triple jump than the one the Port Vale player did to get into the penalty area before he went down. Stop having a go at the players and get behind them starting at Stockport on Saturday. This can still be turned round if people stick together, that includes players and supporters. We have as big a role to play as anybody. CTID.

Im a big FLYNN fan! But the problems are way deeper than a tough tackling midfielder........A little blood letting in the board room is on the cards, with all sorts of problems occuring after!!

Those that were still there were told, in no uncertain terms, by PT to get away from it and get into the changing room. Loyalty & team spirit being questioned? What a joke! Then again, it is from those that feel Moult is the 2nd coming and use this to knock Evo at every opportunity!!

Today saw a decent performance against a good side. Wasn't there rumours in the summer that we tried to sign Richards but couldn't afford him? We made a couple of mistakes and they cost us dearly. They made a couple of similar mistakes and we hit the bar and have an effort cleared off the line. It simply isn't running for us at the moment.

However, the booing was unbelieveable. One of the earlier posts, from 'fatman bd4', mentioned arguments breaking out between fans in the TLD. If you were close to it, can I ask which side of the argument you were on? Those that booed or those that told them to shut up and support? Personally, I just couldn't understand it. Some were firing abuse (and I mean proper abuse) towards McLaughlin. Yes, he made a mistake, but in reality he should never have been put in that position. It was an awful ball from a player that had been brilliant until that point.

As for the subs, how did Threfall stay on for O'B. Leaving O'B on would have given us more of an attacking threat as he could have got forward to support Osborne more.

I watched the highlights last night and I saw Moult create Evan's shot on target from what looked like a nice piece of skill, when he sat their defender on his **** before pulling it back for Evans.

I have no witch hunt on Evans I just think he is poo and feel very frustrated to see Moult on the bench.

The pro's at Stoke obviously believe he is better then Evans, so i will go with them rather then you Waynus, not only that but I have witnessed myself his touch and brain is 10 fold.

Once again we posters and watchers of the game have one thing in common, why oh why was Threfall left on before O'Brien?

from what i could make out a fair few supporters were complaining at Threlfalls poor performance throughout the game, and proberbly couldnt belive taylor left him on the pitch. when docerty did what he did then that just added more fuel to the fire. obviously then supporters realy hit the roof even i vented frustration but did not boo. then 2 blokes from another section decided to turn on the people who were shouting and booing, and inturn they reacted to the 2 blokes, now someone wrote above that they spent 5 mins arguing with a supporter maybe they are the people who were starting on the supporters?? they said they were going or thinking of changing seats or even stop going altogether, my advise would be to stick it out for the season just forget about saturday and see what happens come may 2011.... surly it cant get any worse. CAN IT!

Sounds like I made the correct decision to go to the Bingley festival instead, and listen to a group of menstruating men haters called Gaggle, sing utter garbage.

Yeah,it was a definite penalty,i was sat around six yards from the incident,'i'll be arranging a trip to specsavers if the TV footage proves other wise.I thought most of the support today was good,as i've said previously the booing of Doherty was the reaction of a minority of idiots who haven't got a clue about the game of football ,,, The Oliver booking was bizarre...i've covered all the other major points previously on this thread.

A better performance that needs building on. Next Saturday there are a thousand jobs to do round the house or a motorcycle ride round North Yorkshire to do with friends but against my better judgement I'll be leaving the wife and girls at home and taking the lad to Stockport to cheer the team on. Hopefully to victory and if we get 3 points all will be forgotten, the future will be rosy and the team will be applauded and not abused. CTID.

I don't understand what all this Doherty admiration is about? When he first signed for the club I thought fantastic we now have our midfield General. Someone who leads by example, motivates others, breaks up the oppositions play (hard as nails been the description), can pass. What did I see yesterday? A immobile sulker who walks around the centre circle like a poor mans Jan Molby hands on hips breathing heavy which is quite suprising considering the lack of ground he covered! He made Bullock look mobile if that was possible!! Yeah you might be able to find a couple of decent passses but you've also got to work hard when things arn't going your way. Not impressed so far and his passing wasn't that brilliant just ask Mac! I may be being a little harsh if his fitness improves. But fantastic and excellent arn't something I'd describe from his performance yesterday.
For me Speight and Oliver were our best players although young Jimmy did look knacked near the end as he seemed to be playing the Hanson roll without the luxary of James' height!
Not too disillusioned as some on here with their REM song "Its the end of the world as we know it" attitude. I saw a lot of positives too. Mickey Adams' Vale are one of the favourites for promotion and we didn't look too far off them. We did not seem to have enough options wide which needs addressing and yes if Hanson is going to be out a while a target man on loan needs bringing in. Finally Evans was woeful . No ifs or buts just very poor. He lacks any vision or anticipation. I predict we'll get our season started next week.

Can I suggest that we choose another kit other than the claret and amber of Bradford City? This shower aren't fit to wear the City colours and they're nothing short of an embarrassment to the club and its supporters.
On an upnote, I'm quite excited about the prospect of revisiting places like Grimsby, York, Cambridge, Wrexham, Darlington next season.

well just to clear a few things up with the errors made by the ref and linos, it was there first game in the football league(surprise) why do city get them???? they got scored by the fa and will now be dropped back to the conference as he was too far from the action and got so manythings wrong. the offical in the stand would have sent off 2 players both from vale for repeat pulling of shirt(speight). give the ref his due he has only been the man in the middle in front of crowds of 1500 and stadiums the size of shoe boxes..

yet again jon mac has been blamed for a goal by PT when is he going to take his blinkers off and have a go at his wycombe bum boys(Doherty and oliver) have both made mistakes and i have not heard him say a bad word about them.

However, I will draw your attention to the piece of footage that resulted in City hitting their bar. With the score 1-0, Speight collected the ball by the corner flag and drove towards the box. Evans made room for himself and put his hands out for the delivery. Instead of making the pass, he tried to make an impossible pass to O'Brien and we almost got lucky. The point is, Speight made the wrong decision but wasn't hammered for it. All he had to do was pull it back for his strike partner and Evo would have had a clear sight of goal.

I already know what happened as I was close to the incident (probably closer than you). What I wanted to know was who, in your opinion, was right? Were the fans booing McLaughlin & Doherty right in doing so, or were the two lads right in telling them to shut up and get behind the players? Where were you sat, were you close to the 'boo boys' or the two lads that reacted?

I used to read your comments and think you made sense (most of the time anyway). However, that comment above, just sums up your knowledge of the game.

Doherty was NEVER signed as a box-to-box player and hasn't got the pace to do it. However, he makes himself space and rarely gives the ball away. Look at the pass he made when the Vale fans thought he had messed up. It was brilliant. He found players all the game and did make lots of timely interceptions.

Now had you been saying that Adeyemi had been disappointing, I would have understood more. He was signed as a box-to-box player, but rarely gets forward and does tend to drift out of games.

Nobody said you should slate Speight for making the wrong pass. The point is, you can't use the argument to beat one player when defending another. Evans has made mistakes as has Moult, Speight & Hanson. In your clouded opinion, only one deserves criticism for making the mistakes.

So if Lawn is not happy pay the manager off: SACK HIM AND MOVE ON: circa £250K will be required and then TRY get a new manager in. There may be few takers if becomes known that managers are not allowed to manage without interference or without FULL backing. Any manager coming will require a premium wage if he has to work in the alleged conditions which now prevail.

ONLY WHEN WE HAVE STABILITY WITH MANAGER AND BOARD WORKING IN HARMONY WILL WE SEE SUCCESS: THE RISE BACK UP THE LEAGUES WILL NOT OCCUR UNTIL THAT POINT IS ACHIEVED.

Just like the steeton Bantam says, how many times have we been flying during early season, only to be left let down by the time May comes around!
There is a long way to go and we have plenty of time yet to recover!
It isn't as if we have an inexprienced manager who is just learning as he goes along and flying by the seat of his phants! We have a guy in charge who has seen it, done it and got the t-shirt!
OK, Saturday was a big blow but to say we did not play too well and Port Vale are going to be one of the teams up there, I don't think they deserved to beat us by 2!

I think we have a major problem with Lawn and just hope Julien may cash in a few more shares and get rid of this Richmond apprentice .Going back to when Stu left he never once mentioned Lawns name just thanked Julien for his backing ,and now if the rumours are right he is at again how much he trys to get involved in the playing side we dont know ,but LAWN is problem and our problems could be a lot worse come next May.

Since Lawn became joint chairman, we have failed to win back promotion. Likewise, we haven't been relegated, unlike the 3 occasions in the previous 7 seasons. Are we going to blame him for that too!

Most fans wanted McCall out and replaced with experience. Lawn delivered. Taylor was brought in and made demands. Lawn delivered on the pitch, the increased player budget and tried to give PT the training facilities he wanted. Not to mention the 'stop-overs' and 'training-camps' we agreed to give him.

Why does the joint-chairman always cop the flak for our performances on the pitch? He has even offered to allow Taylor to bring in another player or two, despite ALREADY being over budget.

I'm with you waynus. Lawn has tried to assist Julian Rhodes in helping the Club as whole move forward. And took a risk with Rhodes in 'pushing the boat out' to try and get the team promoted. The way the fans behave towards players, Managers and now one of the chairmen reminds me of the following statement:

They came first for the Communists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for me
and by that time no one was left to speak up.

I am glad we have supporters out there speaking up for all the players and staff etc. at VP. It appears some supporters are intent on destabilising the Club at every opportunity.

Another post right on the money,these web sites could be used to try to destabilise the club and i believe that is actually the case.Mischief making of the worst kind.Lawns put his money where his mouth is and without that cash BCFC would be in a far worse financial position than they at the minute.There's nothing wrong down at VP that a couple of morale boosting wins wouldn't put right.So let's dust ourselves down and get over to Stockport and all get behind the lads like we used to do. I was back a few feeks ago and went to the Stevenage game at home and Torquay away. 2 of the worst games I've seen in 23 years of supporting City, but the support and lack of knowledge by some so called supporters at the Stevenage game is also the worst i've ever seen at VP.

I said at the time, but hoped i was wrong that after watching City's 98-99 season home and away before coming hear that this side would probably be the best City team in my life time. It's currently as bad as i have ever seen and i sure hope things get better soon.

Either way as a supporter that's what your suppossed to do and booing during a game when confidence is already low is just stupid. No different if you're at work having a bad day and your boss is stood over your shoulder giving you grief - it doesn't help.
