City will wait for the dust to settle from today’s clash with Port Vale before deciding whether to dip into the loan market.
Although the transfer window slammed shut last week, clubs outside of the Premier League can do business again from Tuesday. Teams can make “emergency” signings for a maximum of three months.
Peter Taylor just missed out on a young target on deadline day but any move for a possible further addition next week is likely to hinge on how the Bantams perform this afternoon as they look to restore morale among the Valley Parade faithful.
The City chief said: “We very nearly did something on deadline day but at the moment I’ve nobody in particular in mind.
“It wasn’t an experienced one that we were after but he was a good one and it’s something that might open up again.
“We’ll get this weekend’s game out of the way and then think about it after that.”
City have already got Stoke striker Louis Moult and Norwich midfielder Tom Adeyemi on six-month loans but, despite a sticky first month, Taylor’s faith in his players remains strong.
He added: “I said before a ball was kicked that we had a good squad.
“If anything, we needed an experienced striker. I probably still feel exactly the same way.
“But if we stop making mistakes and conceding goals at the wrong time, we will be as good as anything in the league.
“You’ve got to trust in your players. I know we’ve got a good squad of players but I also know they aren’t playing anywhere near to the standard they expect and I expect. So the quicker we get to that the better.”

I would have thought we could sign any player who is a free agent for as long a period as we see fit? There must be some experienced forwards looking for a wage out there? However, I think you have a point fatbloke, if we had a player or two who can get forward and get crosses in then we would see the best of Jimmy Hanson I'm sure. And maybe the wages are less for wingers than '20 plus' goal scorers?
