Fighting talk from Bradford City ace Ramsden

A week of soul-searching on the City training ground will sort out the men from the boys, according to Simon Ramsden.

Just a month into the season, the Port Vale home game on Saturday has taken on huge significance after three defeats from the first four games.

Peter Taylor was furious over their limp loss to Southend, and injured skipper Ramsden predicted a demanding period ahead for the squad.

He said: “The performance on Friday wasn’t to the level that’s expected for Bradford City. So starting on Saturday, we’ve got to be brave – every one of us.

The crowd were very upset on Friday and booed the team off and you can understand where they are coming from

Simon Ramsden

“We’ve got to go out there and show some fight. This is where you’ll see the men from the boys.

“It’s not just about playing well with the ball. You’ve got to get the nasty things right like getting about teams and putting your foot in there – we didn’t do that at times on Friday.

“Fans will cheer you and clap you off if everyone’s given their all. They don’t mind even if it hasn’t come off as long as the effort’s there – you saw that against Preston.

“The crowd were very upset on Friday and booed the team off and you can understand where they are coming from. At times we didn’t look like the home side because Southend had a lot of possession.

“I’m sure the gaffer will be working on it all week because we can’t have another performance like that.”

Ramsden is easing his way back from a torn calf and hoped to get the all-clear to start running again today.

Being stuck on the sidelines while City struggle just increases his personal frustration.

“I really wish I was back but you’ve got to be careful with a tear. Sometimes it might feel fine but one sprint too many and you’re back to square one.

“It’s going to be a long, hard week on the training ground for everyone. Hopefully we can get to the bottom of what’s gone wrong and put it right for Saturday.

“It’s the inconsistency that’s so frustrating for the fans and ourselves. We played very well in the cup against Forest and Preston, two sides who on paper are a lot better than us.

“Then, although we got a victory against Stevenage, we produced a very disappointing performance and it was the same on Friday.

“Let’s hope it’s a different story on Saturday and we can prove what a good side we are.

“We’ve definitely got the players capable of doing it, even if it didn’t look like that on Friday.”

Yawn. Sorry Simon, you are one of our better players but we have heard it all before. Something is very wrong at City and unless we can shake of this underachieving and bottleless type performances we are going no where fast.
Utter rubbish, route one football and if it carries on the stadium will be empty by Xmas.
Stop playing like we are afraid to lose and play with a real desire to win.

Talking about booing your team - a small section of Vale's crowd booed the home side after the Torquay defeat, and they are currently 5th!!

soccer or football is a simple game of passing the ball to your own player and try to move forward, other teams make it look easy , why not City?

.
Actually Simon, it's the cause of the inconsistency that drives fans mad. It didn't work for Rafa at Liverpool, so why does Taylor think it will work for us. Leave the team alone and allow it time to 'gel'! Pick your XI and have the b@lls to believe in them. Give them a run of games before tinkering every game.
.
I like the idea of 3-5-2 but who have we got that an fill the right wing-back role? O'B is perfectly suited to the left sided position and with Duff filling in when he is on one of his forays forward, he won't get caught out as much.
.
Personally, my XI would be (and I would give them 2/3 consecutive games before I even considered dropping anyone);

GK - McLaughlin
RB - Hunt
LB - Threlfall
CB - Oliver
CB - Williams
RW - Daley
LW - O'Brien
CM - Doherty
CM - Sayers
FW - Hanson
FW - Speight
.
Any players that don't play a part on match-day, should be automatically included in the next reserve game. Players such as Duff, Adeyemi, Evans & Moult will then get the opportunity to impress and keep their sharpness, ready to be called upon when needed.

yawn,yawn ,yawn:Shut it Ramsden.

It's articles like this that the true supporters hate form players who want to come to a "big " club with big crrowds etc etc and then cannot or will not perform.

i this were any other entertainment business, which professional football alludes to, then the vast majority of our players would not be working such is the abject individual team and personal performances put out most weks,

Fotball is a simple game, when you haven'y got the ball work your nuts off to get it and when you have it work your nuts off to keep it by passing and moving,

too many players prefer not to get the ball wanting to hit it hard and wish harder that it gets to a player in the same coloured shirt. Those not in possession of teh ball should be moving all the time so that when it is received the recipient is confident of holding it and moving it on before moving again.

My 10 year grandson is having this drilled into them pre season:the season start this coming week end and i cannot wait to be entertained by people with basic skills of ball control, agility, movement and working as a team instead of individuals: this will be on a park near me and certainly not VP.

So Ramsden and others: shut it and start producing results for the fans who, at the end of the day, PAY THE WAGES some of us fans can only dream about!!

Waynus, get yourself down to training and tell Taylor to his face how he should be doing his job:tell him, as we all know, he is getting it wrong.

oops --a few typos: sorry about that but articles like this from players really really annoy me and I wanted to get it all out before I did a spell check and edit.

Ive been thinking about this further. When Speight came on he ran himself into the ground whilst the likes of Daley were happy to watch him do it. If Speight, Evans and Luke O'Brien can put the graft in why do some others not bother. Surely its time for Peter Taylor to pick not only what he considers to be his most talented players but those that want to graft. That way we will end up with our best TEAM.
Daley is not pulling his weight so stop giving him a shirt and drop him along with the rest of them that dont give a ****.

In the above post, the word blanked out rhymes with Ham, has 4 letters, begins with D and ends in N. They blew one up in the war with a bouncing bomb. Is that so offensive it has to be starred out?

Thing that pi**es me off. bradford city lack ambition its as simple as that.
theres too many inexperienced players at this club, players like hanson, william, speig
ht,sears.john mc,
and a few others not experienced enough in the football league, you only have to look at teams like shrewsbury who get wrid of their best players and simply replace them with more experienced players like matt harold, jake robinson, ian sharps, lional ainsworth.. but not just shrewbury its other teams like rotherham just look at their goal scorer le fondre, chesterfield ect ect. what im saying is, and this has always been my moto. if you wanna get out of the league then you must buy/steal/loan
players from other teams within that league, sinpley because they have the experience of this league, and league football, something city seriously lack..
hanson, evans and speight will not score enough goals in this league and if they did the defence is too in-experienced and will concede more goals including the goal keeper.
password is plan-more simples....

I understand everyone's frustration with the start we have had and the lack of quality, effort and desire from the players has made things even worse!
But what all of us have to remember is the fact that nothing is decided in August, September or even October. In this very poor division that we are in, you don't have to start stringing results together until after xmas to be in the promotion frame come the end of the season.
If you look back in history at teams who have been promoted, the majority apart from the odd team have been the form teams of the division from Jan to May not from Aug to Dec!
So time and patience is required for now and let's see where we are at xmas. We have a good squad with cover for most positions and when all teams start to suffer from injuries and suspensions from October onwards, we will have decent players coming in to fill the gaps not players who are not really upto the job like other teams and us in past seasons.
It is at this time when we will come into our own and the team will begin to gel better, just like the season that we got promoted to the prem!!!
So the message is, keep the faith everyone, PT knows aswell as anyone that things so far have not been as good as what they should have been and what is required to put it right!

Maybe neilson was right with what he said in the newspaper about taylor wanting to play the long ball game. From what i saw on friday night it is true the likes of williams, oliver and hunt were hitting long balls to no one and these 3 players in my book are just not good enough, too casual, too slow and distribution from them is nil. Dont wear blinkers and have tunnel vision........ face facts simply not good enough.
simple rules to success ....get the ball down and play it easy and go for the return run into space and talk to each other whether you are on the ball or not....southend, torquay, and stevenage did just that.....pity we cant.

It wasn't Taylor's boot hammering the ball 50 yards to nobody. It wasn't even Oliver, it was Williams. He did it time and time again, whilst his defensive partner played short passes to Doherty.
.
Taylor was furious with Williams each time he did it. Hardly the actions of a manager wanting to play long-ball..!
