City made three changes from the Carling Cup as they chased a second league win.
Lee Bullock came back and became yet another captain. There were also returns for James Hanson and Lewis Hunt. But Shane Duff had to settle for a spot on the bench as Peter Taylor kept faith with Luke Oliver and Steve Williams in the centre of defence.
City were expected to line up 4-4-2 with Louis Moult on the left wing and Omar Daley the right.
