More grim days like Hereford will leave City’s players vulnerable to the chop this summer, Peter Taylor warned today.
The Bantams boss voiced his frustration after watching them sunk by a side battling to beat the drop.
And he left the squad in no doubt that they are playing for their Valley Parade futures over the final ten games.
Taylor has shown he is ready to make big decisions after four players left the club last week.
He said: “As I said the first day I met everyone, it’s they who’ve got to perform. They are vulnerable at the end of the season because there are so many players about.
“Sometimes they surprise me but I think I near on know the majority of their strengths and weaknesses.
“There were too many players who didn’t perform as they should do and that’s maybe why we are 16th in the table.”
Hereford had lost four in a row at home but City paid the price for squandering chances and Taylor admitted their inconsistency comes with the territory.
He said: “I would be totally amazed if anyone watching football at our level sees consistent performances for 40 games a year. Even in the Premier League, they would be struggling to do it for their 38.
“At our level, the boys are unfortunately more inconsistent than the top ones, so there’s always going to be times when this happens.
“We did create some chances, which was the only encouragement, but we tried to smash the net out of sight – we didn’t have good quality in our finishing.”
Midfielder Adam Bolder admitted: “One week we turn it on, next we won’t. I didn’t think we were great anywhere but that’s the inconsistency.”
Meanwhile, Chris Brandon – one of those already gone from City – is set to train with Dundee United with a view to joining the Scottish club in the summer.

well i blame the board not taylor whats he meant to do he inherits a very poor side and the transfer window is shut they should have got rid of mcall well before transfer window shut in january taylor did say we would lose games before seasons ends taylor will be good for us but hes not got a magic wand we need to stay with him if mcall was still in charge he would have said the boys were unlucky and put the effort in but taylor has said there playing for there jobs and rightly so ctid

That's what happens when you fill the team full of loan players who are just trying to get some match fitness before going back to their own clubs (Ryan Kendall), we've seen it before, we're seeing it again. Defeats against Hereford, Aldershot, Accrington & Port Vale. It's all well and good beating the likes of Rochdale and Rotherham, but if we're wanting to do anything in this league next year, we have to be able to go Hereford and take 3 points!

No team has a right to go anywhere and get three points. We might lose 10-0 at Hereford, but if we get promoted so what! What we do have to do is get a settled squad who know what they need to do week in and week out. I've said it before, it won't always be pretty with Peter Taylor but he should be able to get us up as he has done at so many other clubs.

I dont BLAME anybody. Why do we always need to BLAME someone. We are 16th for a reason, the players on the whole are not consistent enough. As soon as we lose some people are itching to blame the board or the manager or the players or the tea ladt for that matter. Saturday was a poor result but if it assists PT to work out who to keep and who to let go in the Summer it may be a blessing in disguise. Its what PT does about the result that's important as far as I am concerned and I for one hope that a goal scorer is part of the future plans. I'm not knocking James but he needs help to get the goals.

Whilst we have had some poor defenders committting poor defensive errors they have often been left with huge holes in front of them. basically due to a lack of pace, fitness and discipline.

I'm right behind Peter Taylor, I wanted him to get the job and we'll improve under him. It's just this view that everything is fantastic from some supporters that frustrates me. I read someone say yesterday with regards to contracts talks "we have to sign him, look at our results since he took over, it's a no brainer" What results?! Take away the two results against Rochdale and Rotherham (excellent results) and it's looking pretty bleak. 4 defeats and 2 very unconvincing homes wins, one against the team in rock bottom. We may beat County tomorrow night, we might get a hammering, it doesn't really matter if you can't beat a team who are 5th from bottom and, to quote a Hereford MB poster before the match, are "playing the worst football they've seen in a decade".blacksheep wrote: That's what happens when you fill the team full of loan players who are just trying to get some match fitness before going back to their own clubs (Ryan Kendall), we've seen it before, we're seeing it again. Even when Bullock has been able to stay where he should be e.g. as a defensive midfielder, he is too easy to get past if someone runs at him. But Bullock still has delusions that he is an attacking midfielder on occasions and that makes the situation even worse. Albeit he has not played there by himself. Flynn does look 'leggy' in some games. And i feel that Taylor's switch is to inject more mobility in this area. i definately believe that when Flynn plays well city play well. Overall whilst everyone wants the centre of defence sorting its imperative that the guys just in front can both create chances and combat the opposition thus play at both ends of the pitchtyker wrote: Has Bullock blown his chances for a new contract by picking up a two game ban: two less games for Taylor to see him in action.I hope so!! I really dont understand this blame culture at all....it's pathetic!!! A knew manager comes in and inherits a squad which isn't his and gets a number of loan players in to take a look at them in what in fairness is a dead end to the season and people still moan that we have a team of loans. If PT played the season with with the squad he inherited and started to build in the future then people would slate him for that. What do people really expect anyone at city to do in this position??? PT, Lawn & Rhodes aren't thick unlike some people on here and they are doing what's right for the club in preperation for next season. Save your comments for next season, accept this season is dead and just look forward to next season...
