SIMON Grayson insists his contract position should have no bearing on City’s fortunes for the rest of the season.

The Bantams head for Blackpool tomorrow in search of a much-needed win to maintain an interest in the play-off race.

Grayson’s deal only runs to the end of the campaign and there have been reports linking him with possible summer interest from Fleetwood.

He revealed that there have been no more talks with chairman Edin Rahic over his own future while City focus on ending their wretched slide down the table.

But he does not view that as a distraction as his team look to close the growing gap to the top six.

Grayson said: “We’re just going along as we have done for the last few weeks with the preparation and pre-season stuff and lists that keep getting altered for players we’d like to be here next year.

“There’s been no dialogue between myself and Edin, we’ve really just got to focus on the results first – that’s the key thing.

“There are plenty of managers whose contracts are up in the summer and it shouldn’t be an issue.

“If anything, it should be an incentive to players to play for their futures regardless of who’s the manager, whether it’s me or somebody else.

“They’ve got to do what’s right to go and get results. Nobody’s satisfied with where we’ve been over the last few weeks or months.

“The results don’t reflect well on a lot of people.”

City have won only once in Grayson’s six games in charge and scored just two goals. That is an area he is desperate to rectify against Blackpool, the first of four clubs he won promotion with from the third tier.

He added: “We’ve not created enough chances to win any game and that’s probably been the biggest disappointment.

“That’s not my football teams – I want my teams to excite people, entertain, get shots, get crosses in, get bodies in the box. We haven’t been brave enough to do so.

“I came in here because I felt I could get the team into the top six. I still believe that we can do that.

“But there is also an honesty that I haven’t got a magic wand. I can’t suddenly change a group of players that have been struggling for confidence into world-beaters again.

“We’re trying to make sure we change the attitude and do things in a slightly different manner to get back to where the team was.

“Many factors happen but ultimately a manager and his coaching staff are judged on results – and players are as well.”

Injured duo Tyrell Robinson and Matty Lund are making progress but are not expected to be ready.

Paul Taylor misses out again through “personal issues”, raising question marks over his future at the club. He has not been involved in the last four games and is out of contract in the summer.

Blackpool continue to be plagued by off-field politics involving their controversial owners, the Oyston family, and Gary Bowyer’s side have won only once at Bloomfield Road since September.

Grayson said: “It’s not been an ideal situation with the court case that’s been going on between the Oystons and Valeri Belokon.

“The pitch isn’t ideal for them as well. Gary wants to play a certain way of football and it hasn’t helped them.

“But if they’ve got any issues, we need to get in amongst it and make things happen for us.

“I wouldn’t say it’s the end of the line for us (if we don’t get three points) but we need to win games quickly. Win tomorrow and it can set us up for Shrewsbury next Thursday and the remainder of the season.”
