SIMON Grayson admitted he had expected far more from his City side after they went down tamely 2-0 at new League One leaders Blackburn.

Rovers went top with second-half goals from Bradley Dack and Craig Conway in a one-sided encounter in front of the TV cameras at Ewood Park last night.

It was City’s fourth loss in five games and they never looked like building on last weekend’s win over Gillingham.

Grayson said: “We got out the game what we deserved – and that was nothing.

“They started better, they had more urgency about them and more intensity. We were fortunate to go in level at half-time.

“There was an air of acceptancy when the first goal went in that it was going to be game over.

“We have to be better with and without the ball. Too many players were playing within themselves or not taking responsibility.

“They aren’t enjoying what they’re meant to be doing.”

City posed no threat to the Blackburn goal. They did not have a shot until the 83rd minute and managed nothing on target.

Grayson added: “At the top end of the pitch, when there’s an opportunity to counter-attack, they take the easy option and the safe pass.

“Whereas every time Blackburn broke, they wanted to make something happen.

“You’re playing in front of the Sky cameras against a team desperate to go to the top of the division but there was a lack of urgency about us for whatever reason.”
