Stuart McCall's sacking by Bradford City has provoked a strong reaction from fans on social media.
It's official: Stuart McCall has been SACKED by Bradford City. Do you think it was the right call? https://t.co/fSJTpZwqVP #bcafc
— Telegraph & Argus (@Bradford_TandA) February 5, 2018
The news came on the back of six straight league defeats, a record which some thought demanded a sacking:
Gutted but something had to give I guess, 6 defeats in a row for a promotion contender is not good enough no matter who the manager is! Thanks for everything Stuart! Sad but we have to move on. #bcafc https://t.co/v7S1PbSwv3

yes. McCall responsible for performance on pitch. 8 defeats in 9 games. Abysmal last 2 months. Results business. #nobrainer

Had to go, if he wasn’t McCall he’d have been sacked after the Wimbledon game.

But some saw it as a sign of football's short-termism.
Absolute madness!! It’s only 6 games!! 🤬

Gutted. Only bad spell he’s had in two years..... #bcafc

Need to look at the bigger picture, we are in the top 6 and he gets sacked. It’s a joke. #bcafc

And plenty of others pointed to his long-term achievements.
Since McCall took over we have only spent 3 weeks outside of the play offs. We’ve been to a play off final and we’ve gone a whole season undefeated at home. He took over half a squad 18 months ago. Absolute joke of a decision. Form is temporary class is perminant. #bcafc pic.twitter.com/EIEc3bdPCE

For some, McCall was let down by the club's owners.
You set of gutless cowards. You fail to back McCall in the transfer market & make a mockery of 2 transfer windows when we should be aiming for proven talent to get us up. You've 100% lost my backing with the sacking of a club legend who bleeds Bradford city DISGRACEFUL #bcafc

Club legend been absolutely hung out to dry with this transfer policy. Club ought to hang their heads in shame #bcafc

And the players have also come in for criticism.
Players have cost him his job. Compare this to Parky. He kicked arses behind the scenes. Players with poor attitudes or lazy ones left or were sold. He didn't suffer fools. McCall did and it cost him. #bcafc

The players who continually backed after every defeat have let him down big time. #bcafc
— Iain Taylor (@Taylor_bcafc) February 5, 2018
Players need to take a long look at themselves! We were playing the best footy I've seen at VP earlier in the season! if we are sacking Stuart then surely Gregg must go as well, his signings haven't been good enough and McCalls had to pay the price #bcafc
— Ste Tasker (@Ste_Tasker) February 5, 2018
But there's general agreement that Stuart McCall leaves Bradford City with his status as a Bantams legend intact.
Everyone slagging the board off but 6 losses on the bounce with players clearly not playing for him, seems it was destined to happen, still a legend at the club #bcafc https://t.co/fxLEyRxFua

This goes down as one of the saddest days in @officialbantams history. I would like to wish Stuart all the very best for the future and thank him for everything he has done for our great club #Legend #bcafc
