DOMINIC Poleon is plotting an FA Cup return for City against Chesterfield.

The striker is due to rejoin full training today and could be pencilled in for some involvement in the first-round clash with the Spireites at Valley Parade this weekend.

Poleon, who has netted four goals so far this season, has missed the last two league games after injuring his hamstring during a substitute appearance against Oldham a fortnight ago.

Bantams boss Stuart McCall said: "We'd like to think Dom will be back training with us, if not today then Thursday.

"He did some three-quarter paced running on Saturday morning and came through that okay.

"It was only a little tweak, a very small tear and nothing serious. He came on and just felt it was tight.

"He'd never had a problem with his hamstring before so couldn't really explain what it was. But it was only likely to be a two-week thing."

McCall feels City can switch their focus to the FA Cup in good spirits after the weekend win at Portsmouth.

They held on to third spot in League One with a first win in four games and it took them to 30 points from the opening three months.

The Bantams chief said: "Points-wise, it's a really good start.

"Saturday was a big result for us. There are different ways to amass points but we'd only taken one out of nine up to then and were more than aware of that.

"We'd mentioned to the lads that we needed to get back on the winning trail however we did it.

"Obviously you want to play well. It goes without saying, the better you play the more chance you have of getting a win.

"But sometimes in football, you can have one shot on goal and win.

"We can't affect what fans think or what outside influences feel. We can't change their emotions or thoughts.

"We have to stay strong and that's why it was so important we picked up three points.

"Coming back with the win was very satisfying but we know there are a lot of areas where we need to be better."

Shay McCartan and Adam Thompson have both been left out of the Northern Ireland squad for their World Cup qualifying play-off against Switzerland. But former City centre half Rory McArdle has been recalled after his form as Scunthorpe skipper.

Meanwhile, City's under-18s are in FA Youth Cup action tonight as Blackpool visit for a first-round clash. The game, which kicks off at 7pm, is the first of four in 11 days at Valley Parade.

McCall said: "It's going to be a busy time on the pitch with the youth team, Saturday, the Checkatrade Trophy next Tuesday and then Plymouth. We're just hoping the weather is kind."
