CITY central defenders Nathaniel Knight-Percival and Matt Kilgallon have  this afternoon signed one-year contract extensions.

The duo, who have been in cracking form so far this season, penned new deals which will tie them to Valley Parade until June 2019.

Knight-Percival and Kilgallon have started every league game and their partnership in the middle of defence has played a key part in City's impressive opening couple of months.

They have also weighed in with three goals between them.

Despite both being left footed, Knight-Percival has slotted in very effectively on the right side of the pairing.

Stuart McCall has been delighted with how they have been playing.

The City boss said: "Prior to the closure of the summer transfer, there was actually some interest in Killa from a team abroad.

"It would have been a big offer for him in terms of finances but Matt wanted to stay.

"The way he has been playing this season and the loyalty he has shown to the club, Matt deserves this new contract.

"He is a good influence in the dressing room, as is Nat.

"Apart from a small period last season when he had a little dip, as most players will do during a campaign, Nat has been excellent since he's arrived at the club.

"He has shown his adaptability to play on the right side of defence and he has been defensively sound again in the early stages of the season."

The pair's consistent performances have meant that Northern Ireland international Adam Thompson, signed on loan from Bury just before the August transfer deadline, is yet to start his first game.
