CITY striker Charlie Wyke is touch and go to make their League One opener.

The centre forward faces a race to be fit in time for the Blackpool home clash on August 5.

Initial thoughts suggested Wyke was suffering with a sore hamstring but now it has been revealed he has got a small muscle tear.

He played in the opening friendly against Bradford Park Avenue and then participated all week with the squad in City's training camp in Austria.

But Wyke was not included in the Echterdingen game as a precaution and has since sat out the friendly with Guiseley and last night's warm-up match at Eccleshill.

Assistant boss Kenny Black said: "I don't think he'll be a doubt but it is a concern that he's picked up this injury in training.

"Hopefully he'll be getting round the clock treatment to make himself available. You just don't know with hamstrings.

"It's not a massive tear but any problem like that is a worry. The more we get into pre-season, he's got that catching up to do.

"He's okay missing a couple of weeks but it's not getting the valuable game time like Tuesday and last night."

Dan Pybus scored twice after Tyrell Robinson's opener as City won 3-0 at Eccleshill, all the goals coming in the second half.

Black said: "We were looking for a competitive game and we certainly got that.

"There was still a bit of rustiness in the first half but we got a lift in the last 15 minutes when the young lads came on with fresh legs."

City have fielded two different sides in this week's back-to-back friendlies. They are likely to do the same for a behind-closed-doors game at Bury's training ground tomorrow and Saturday's attractive home clash with Sunderland.

Bantams boss Stuart McCall said: "At the moment it's about getting lads the game time and having a look to see where their best position is.

"We've got Paul Taylor who can play as a ten or on the left, Dom Poleon who plays down the middle or on the right, Shay McCartan can play as ten or up top.

"We're getting to know them as well and what we think maybe will fit best for us.

"We need to see them all in different positions and also playing with different partners.

"Have I thought about my best team? I would say no. There are lots of things up for grabs."
