TONY McMahon is staying at City.

The defender today signed a new one-year deal to put an end to a summer of speculation about his future.

The 31-year-old had been linked with Blackburn, Wigan, Preston, Bolton and Peterborough.

Boss Stuart McCall was keen to hang on to McMahon because of his experience as well as character in the dressing room.

McMahon has made 88 appearances since joining City from Blackpool initially on loan in March 2015. As the longest-serving member of the squad, he is the only Phil Parkinson signing left.

McCall said: "We certainly needed a bit of experience and know-how, which he gave us last season.

"He had a strong season. His deliveries from back to front were good and we're pleased to have him back."

Rouven Sattelmaier has also put pen to paper on a new contract for next season.

The German keeper played eight times as back-up to Colin Doyle and claimed four clean sheets.
