MILLWALL have this morning announced the signing of James Meredith on a two-year deal, subject to medical.

The City left back, who was among the players out of contract, had rejected a new offer to stay at Valley Parade in a bid to play in the Championship.

Former Bantams boss Phil Parkinson was also understood to be keen on taking Meredith to Bolton. But the Aussie has opted for the club who beat City at Wembley to win promotion nine days ago.

Meredith, currently on holiday in Australia, said: "I met (Millwall boss) Neil (Harris) and he came across so well.

"He's ambitious and has big plans both for the football club and for me as an individual, which is exactly what you want to hear and made Millwall the most attractive option for me.

"I'm excited for what the future holds and can't wait to play as a Millwall player at the Den. Whenever I've played there before the atmosphere has been great."

Meredith, who joined City in 2012, made 220 appearances and scored four goals - the last of those was against Millwall at Valley Parade in January.
