CITY will be restricted to a whistle-stop tour of Wembley as their play-off final preparations ramp up.

Stuart McCall intends to take his players to the national stadium ahead of Saturday's clash with Millwall to familiarise themselves with the surroundings.

Yet he does not plan to hang around for too long and run the risk of some being overawed by the place.

"We're going to have a look at the ground but we're certainly not going for the extended tour," said McCall.

"We'll be in for 20 minutes to half an hour to have a look at the pitch and the dressing rooms. That will give a little taste of it to anyone who hasn't been before.

"It's certainly not the big tour that they put on where you go all around. We don't need to look at the other stuff and sometimes that can work the other way.

"The important thing is to get the lads on to the pitch and have a look at that."

Rory McArdle, James Meredith and Stephen Darby remain from City's last visit to Wembley four years ago when they beat Northampton.

But skipper Romain Vincelot, Nicky Law, Billy Clarke and Jordy Hiwula have also been involved in big games there.

McCall gave his players a couple of extra days off last week to recuperate from the demands of the Fleetwood double-header.

They trained on the Valley Parade pitch after the memorial service on Thursday before a full session on Friday. Most were also given the weekend off before the build-up starts in earnest this morning.

The City boss said: "If you're not fit now, you're never going to be. It's about being mentally sharp as much as physically and that's why we gave them a few days off.

"The ones who have been playing regularly also didn't train over the weekend. But lads like Gilly (Alex Gilliead) and Killa (Matt Kilgallon) have obviously done a bit more than the other boys after just coming back.

"We've got a good experienced group who know what it's about – but this is where the serious business starts."
