STUART McCall admits City still need more points for play-off security after beating Oxford.

Nicky Law’s goal secured a sixth win in eight games for the Bantams.

They are now on 75 points, above the average for sixth place for the last ten seasons.

But with all their rivals also winning, McCall insists they have still not got enough.

McCall said: “We gave the lads the target of seven wins in the last 13 games to get to 74. Now we have 75 and we still need more points.

“The other sides have had good wins today and we’ve all got difficult games coming up. But you just focus on yourself.

“The other sides are all more than capable of winning their last three games. We’ve got to try to do the same.

“Certainly one win and maybe a draw would help but we’re far from guaranteed.”

Law struck after an hour as City once again won with a second-half goal against an Oxford team who have beaten them twice.

McCall added: “We keep saying every win is huge. But when we came off and looked at all the other results, as every manager will have done, and seen they’ve all won – it’s another massive three points.

“Oxford have got a lot of good technical players and playing with a bit of freedom so it was a tough game.

“It was a game I was wary of but a real bit of quality has won it.”

Fourth-placed City narrowed the gap on Bolton to four points in the second automatic promotion spot. Phil Parkinson’s side go to Oldham tomorrow.

But McCall does not expect them to falter in the run-in.

“I don’t see Bolton slipping up,” he said. “With the games they’ve got, they are experienced enough and they’ve got a terrific management team.

“All we can do is try to win our games and if we can, you never know. But it’s not in our thoughts whatsoever.”
