TIMOTHEE Dieng is confident City can pass their screen test – even if his friends back home might not get the chance to tune in.

Stuart McCall’s side could open up a five-point gap on Scunthorpe with victory in tomorrow’s televised meeting at Glanford Park.

Midfielder Dieng also sees it as the ideal opportunity to show the rest of the country what City are about.

Unfortunately he is not too sure if the broadcast will extend as far as his native France.

Dieng said: “I don’t know if it’s on TV over there, I don’t think so. But my dad and my brother will be watching the game.

“But maybe this is also our chance to impress the other teams and make them a bit worried about us.

“We look at the scores straight after the game to see if we have moved and every team will be doing the same.

“I watched Bolton the other night – Fil (Morais) is playing so well. Now we have a very important game.

“We know we have good quality and know we can do it. It’s a good opportunity to show England.”

Colin Doyle flies back this morning from Dublin in time to join City for training.

The keeper, who was due to be on the bench for the Republic of Ireland against Wales last night, will return to the international squad after the game before their friendly against Iceland on Tuesday.

Josh Cullen is also due to link up at City’s team hotel tonight following his under-21 international against Kosovo. McCall will monitor how many minutes he has played before deciding whether to even consider him in the squad.

But Nicky Law hopes to be involved in some part following four games out with a minor knee injury.

Despite the short trip, City are staying overnight.

McCall, who will be watching play-off rivals Fleetwood at Bury this afternoon, said: “We’re doing things properly. We haven’t had many early kick-offs, obviously it is different at higher levels, and preparation is key.

“It’s important we are over there already getting prepared and lads aren’t trying to travel early in the morning when they may not have eaten properly.”
