CITY are ready to unleash Nicky Law again in the promotion chase after his “mini-break”.

The midfielder will add to Stuart McCall’s options for the Sunday lunchtime televised battle with Scunthorpe.

Law has sat out the last four games after tweaking his knee.

He had previously started all but one of City’s League One schedule and came off the bench in the other.

But that long run in the side had been showing signs of catching up with him with a couple of jaded displays against Port Vale and MK Dons before his spell on the sidelines.

McCall believes the enforced absence has allowed Law, who has scored four goals, to refresh his batteries to play another big part in the remainder of the season.

He said: “It’s similar to when Marshy (Mark Marshall) was out for ten days with his hamstring.

“Nicky can treat it as a little mini-break and freshen up and be ready to go again. He has had a cracking season up to now.”

Law was McCall’s first signing when the manager returned to Valley Parade in June and has been a regular name on his team-sheet at various clubs.

When he missed the home win over Peterborough at the beginning of the month, it ended a sequence of 73 consecutive league outings under McCall with City, Rangers and Motherwell.

McCall added: “I would have liked to have had him on the bench last Saturday.

“But he felt his knee a little bit when he struck a ball in training on the Thursday and probably wasn’t mentally ready.

“He did a bit Friday and was okay but by then we’d decided on the team and done the shape.

“But having another week he’s definitely got a good chance and should be fine.

“It’s good to give us a couple more options for a big game coming up on Sunday.”

This will be the first time City have been shown on live TV this season. They are also on again at leaders Sheffield United on Easter Monday.

“It’s going to be an exciting few days in the lead-up,” said McCall. “It’s always a special occasion when you aren’t regulars on the telly, which our level aren’t.

“You usually only see the clips of the goals on Saturday night so it’s a big thing. I’m sure there will be a few new haircuts!

“But the bottom line is obviously the result. With seven games to go, that is all that matters at this stage.”

Midfielder Dan Pybus, who recently signed on a short-term deal, will again feature for a youthful reserve side against Morecambe this afternoon.
