STUART McCall expects Colin Doyle to be in City's goal for the televised clash with fellow high-flyers Scunthorpe.

Next Sunday's lunchtime showdown falls slap bang in the middle of two Republic of Ireland internationals.

Doyle is currently one of four goalkeepers on the 39-man provisional squad announced by Martin O'Neill for their Dublin double-header.

O'Neill's group-topping side host Wales in a World Cup qualifier on Friday and then Iceland in a friendly four days later.

But if Doyle makes the cut, McCall is hopeful the Irish will still agree to release him for club duty at Glanford Park.

"I will speak to Martin nearer the time but I'd hope we'd be allow to play Doyley," said the Bantams boss.

"He could be back Saturday to train with us and then always return to Ireland after the game. We obviously have to go through the right procedures but that's what we'd be hopeful of."

Doyle's only international cap came ten years ago against Ecuador but he was on the bench as the third-choice keeper in Vienna in November as the Irish beat Austria 1-0 to make it ten points from a possible 12 in their qualifying group.

Rouven Sattelmaier deputised for his only league outing in Doyle's absence as City thrashed Rochdale 4-0.

McCall said: "You'd think Doyley will be available for us but, if needed, it's a discussion we'll have to have next week.

"Obviously if you're a first-team regular, your country comes first, but a lot of players in the squads have got free weekends."

City will definitely be missing Josh Cullen against the Iron. The midfielder, who has been short-listed for Ireland's under-21 player of the year, is in qualifying action at home to Kosovo next Saturday.
