MORE THAN 1,000 season tickets have been sold in less than 24 hours since the launch of the joint Telegraph & Argus and Bradford City #TeamTwenty campaign.

Yesterday, the T&A teamed up with City to lead the way in driving down the cost of football across the UK.

The #TeamTwenty campaign is aimed at keeping the cost of a City season ticket at the lowest level in the country – even if City are promoted.

We want 20,000 fans to sign up, beating last year’s total of 18,000.

The Bantams have set themselves the ambitious target for season-ticket holders for 2017-18 by freezing the early-bird prices at just £149 for adults.

The T&A are firmly behind the #TeamTwenty initiative – which is earning national plaudits for keeping football affordable for supporters. Now it is down to you, the Bradford public, to help fill Valley Parade.

T&A Editor Perry Austin-Clarke said the campaign's early start was "phenomenal" and a good sign of things to come.

"To sell a thousand tickets within less than a day of launching the campaign is brilliant and we hope it will inspire many more people to join TeamTwenty," he said.

"City are still in with a great chance of making the Championship next season but £149 will be an incredible price to watch all their home games even if they don't."

Chief operating officer James Mason said: “When we launched the £149 campaign a few years ago, we had 11,000 season-ticket holders. I don’t think anyone expected us to get to 18,000.

“But we hit upon the mood that was around the club at the time.

“If we can increase our fan-base by that extra 11 per cent, it will mean that people will have to stand up and take note that Bradford City are a really forward-thinking and growing club – and one of the biggest in the country almost in terms of season-ticket numbers.

“Football fans do like the bragging rights of saying they are a big club and well supported. The onus is now on the fans to say ‘how can you play your part’. This is a collaboration of fans, players and management. We are all part of this.

“We all want the big crowds but we can’t do much more than make the prices as low as they can be.”

Season-tickets are now available from the club or via the website Teamtwenty.co.uk.
