A STRANGE thing happened to Fleetwood on Saturday – they did not score.

The goalless draw with Rochdale was only the second time the Cod Army have failed to hit the net in League One this season.

It is an impressive record which goes a long way to showing why Uwe Rosler's young side have emerged as serious play-off contenders.

Fleetwood are already setting a club record with a 14-match unbeaten run stretching back to November 12.

MK Dons are the only visiting team to win at Highbury although both blanks were fired at home, the other in a stalemate with Bury on Boxing Day.

Uwe Rosler, the manager linked with City last summer, still insists his side are punching above their weight.

Rosler said: "I think we have to stop looking at the position. We are Fleetwood Town – other clubs, like Millwall and Charlton, should be in our position.

"We should now be concentrating on playing better football, passing the ball, creating chances, keeping our run going, but also on finding new ways to surprise the opposition."

Like tonight's opposite number Stuart McCall, the German is considering changes after their third successive draw. But Northern Ireland defender Conor McLaughlin remains a doubt and striker Wes Burns could also be struggling.

That may well mean a start up front for former Bantams player Devante Cole, who has scored five times so far.
