CHESTERFIELD fans are losing patience with their team and manager.

Danny Wilson's side came under fire from home supporters in Monday's goalless draw with MK Dons.

That was their first point in three games since beating Bolton just before Christmas –but the Proact faithful are losing heart with the financially-hit club.

Off the field, things appear to have settled down in the boardroom after a turbulent end to 2016, but many Spireites fans remain fearful of player sales this month.

That would further weaken a small, inexperienced squad that has been hit by long-term injuries to several key players.

Chesterfield are expected to make a loss this financial year unless they can bring in revenue through selling some of their more experienced names. That makes it hard for them to reject any reasonable bids made during the transfer window.

Jay O'Shea and Sam Hird have been linked with other clubs but Ched Evans is seen as their jewel in the crown.

The Bantams, who host Chesterfield tomorrow, have been among the clubs linked with him but it is understood the Spireites would demand a hefty fee to even consider letting the striker go.

His contract is up in the summer but the club are believed to have an option on that, giving them a stronger hand in dealing with any potential suitors.

Evans is also thought to feel a strong sense of loyalty with Wilson for the way the manager stuck by him after the controversy of his court case. But as it stands, they have received no bids.

Not that Evans has been pulling up trees in a team who face a grim struggle against the drop.

Despite working his socks off, he has been starved of service in the past two games – hence the chorus of boos and dissent in the latest dour stalemate.

City's win at the Proact in October was the first of eight straight losses which plunged the Spireites down the table.
