BRADFORD City has the cheapest season ticket price out of all the professional league clubs in the country, according to a national survey.

The Bantams top the table for a second successive year, with almost 18,000 supporters paying just £149 this season, which is nearly half the League One’s average of £283.07.

The club’s nearest opponents out of all 92 Premier League and Football League sides are fellow League One outfit Charlton Athletic at £175, then Championship team Huddersfield Town on £179, followed by League Two side Leyton Orient on £190.

But City still lost out for the cheapest season ticket prize to National League side Sutton United, who charge its supporters just £85.

The claret and amber’s most expensive season ticket is £299 - the cheapest in League One. The most expensive season ticket in the country is for Premier League Arsenal at £2,013.

BBC Sport’s annual Price of Football study, the biggest of its kind in Europe, looked at more than 1,000 ticket prices at 223 clubs. It also probed the cost of matchday for supporters at each Premier, Football League and National League club.

The study also found Bradford City’s highest single match ticket cost £25 and the most popular ticket is £20.

The club’s pies are priced £3.20, its cups of tea cost £2.20 and its programmes are £3.

City’s junior replica shirts cost £36, while its adults tops are £45.

The most popular price range for tickets among prudent Bantams fans is between £11 and £20.

City also take care of away fans visiting Valley Parade, with the cheapest at £20 and most expensive at £25.

James Mason, Bradford City chief executive, said: “The £149 season ticket deal has transformed the club to some extent.

“We are proud that we have made football affordable and accessible for families. We want to continue that for as long as possible.

“At our level, ticket sales are our biggest revenue stream. We are pleased to buck the trend over prices.

“There is a feel-good factor around the stadium.”

Stuart McCall’s Bantams are second in League One, five points behind leaders Scunthorpe United.
