CITY were convinced they should have had a late penalty as their unbeaten run came to a halt this afternoon.
Oxford inflicted the first loss with a Chris Maguire free-kick in the first minute of added time.
The Bantams were left to rue three chances that got away – Billy Clarke hitting the bar from the penalty spot and Jordy Hiwula twice should have done much better in front of goal.
But they also felt that referee David Webb denied them a second spot-kick right at the end when Romain Vincelot appeared to be nudged over by Charlie Raglan.
Stuart McCall said: “It’s really disappointing in the manner the run has ended in the last minute of the game.
“But I still had belief after that goal that we’d score. That’s the belief I’ve got in the group and the lads have in each other.
“On another day we get a penalty kick at the end and Romain is absolutely adamant he was fouled. He was going to shoot if he didn’t get pushed in the back.
“But we got punished for not taking some really good chances. It was a good, open game – I said Oxford would be a tough test and they were.”
