TOMORROW’S visitors Bristol Rovers have got that familiar feeling.

Just like City, they head into the Valley Parade clash on the back of three draws on the bounce.

Tuesday night’s 1-1 home stalemate with Walsall, watched by Bantams number two Kenny Black, continued the sequence.

Darrell Clarke’s side have won only once since clinching back-to-back promotions on a dramatic final day in May.

But the Rovers boss, who was pursued by Leeds in the summer, believes his players are getting to grips with League One football.

He sensed an improvement when they fought back against Walsall and is convinced they can string a winning run together.

Clarke said: “We are a level up this season but (Tuesday) was another game where we were more than a match for another very good team. I hope that will help to build confidence throughout the squad to help us keep moving things forward.

“The boys have to show me that they can hit the heights of the new level they are at and I’m sure if they can consistently perform to the level they did it won’t be long before we start stringing some wins together.

“I don’t think the players could have given me much more other than to have put the ball in the back of the net. It is frustrating when chances keep going begging but the character the players show to always keep going was there for all to see.”

Inevitably it was Matty Taylor, pictured, who notched Rovers’ midweek equaliser from the penalty spot.

That was his sixth goal of the season already and took his tally with the club to a phenomenal 55 in 108 appearances since joining from Forest Green.

Rovers feared they would lose Taylor in the summer when he was out of contract. But he ignored interest from Oxford, who thought they had “shaken hands” on an agreement, and the Championship to sign a new deal.
