REMEMBER the general anxiety this time last week because City had not scored a goal?

Imagine the fretting then among Coventry fans after Tony Mowbray’s team set an unwanted record.

The Sky Blues are still waiting to break their duck – the first time they have failed to score in the opening three league games in their 91-season history.

While the Bantams were celebrating successive away victories, frustrated Coventry registered back-to-back goalless draws at home to Shrewsbury and Bury.

Like City, they have only let in one but Mowbray is concerned with the lack of end product.

“We look a little bit lightweight,” he said, after admitting they were fortunate to take a point against the more physical Shakers on Tuesday.

Coventry’s attack is set to be boosted at Valley Parade by the presence of on-loan Burnley teenager Dan Agyei, described as a pacy and powerful prospect.

The 19-year-old, who joined the Clarets from Wimbledon in the summer, was involved in some pre-season games – including a 24-minute run-out in their friendly against the Bantams when he came on for two-goal Andre Gray.

Mowbray can understand supporters getting frustrated at the lack of goal-mouth action.

But he said: “Twenty goal a season players aren’t falling off trees otherwise we’d be already there with one.”

Centre half Jordan Turnbull will make his debut after joining in a three-year deal from Southampton earlier in the week. He spent the last two seasons on loan at Swindon and has been on the winning side against City three times.

Mowbray added: “Jordan is an experienced player in this league in a team that made it to the play-off final. He can play with the ball and can defend and will bring some stability.

“My job is to make our team stronger physically as well as better technically and we have to do that. We have to get stronger.

“Bradford is a tough place to go – big James Hanson up front if he’s playing and the backing of their crowd with maybe 20,000. Yet we have to try to stand up to it and try to play our football.”
