JORDY Hiwula has special memories when it comes to playing against MK Dons.

They were the opposition two years ago as he made his first appearance on the senior stage.

Hiwula was playing on loan for Yeovil and despite losing the game 2-0, it was an experience he remembers fondly.

“It only seems like yesterday when I made my professional debut,” said the striker who netted City’s opening goal of the season on Saturday.

“MK Dons were the best team in the division at the time so I knew it was going to be hard.

“But it was good to test yourself against them.

“I feel like I’ve developed a lot since then and hopefully I can show them that. But I know that there’s more to come if I keep working hard.

“There’s loads of my game I need to improve on and if I keep doing what I’m doing then hopefully I’ll get there.”

Hiwula’s tidy header from Tony McMahon’s cross crowned an impressive away display at Peterborough.

It also removed any stigma about the team not scoring in their opening two games despite long periods of dominating the play.

Not that Hiwula shared those concerns.

The 21-year-old already feels well settled into the club at the start of his year’s stay from Huddersfield. But he is well accustomed to loan spells.

He added: “It helps that I’ve been at other clubs before. I’ve been on loan quite a few times at this level so I know what’s expected.

“That’s important because Bradford are one of the biggest clubs in this division as well.

“Everyone here has been welcoming and it’s been easy for me to settle in.

“I get on with the lads well and felt like I gelled with them when we went away to Scotland.

“Now it’s about me helping the team by working hard and looking to improve every day.”

Having come down from the Championship, MK Dons are widely tipped to be among the promotion challengers this season.

Hiwula is confident about City’s chances as well but believes standards have improved across the board.

“This league is very competitive and you can see that the teams are getting better each year,” he said. “You see the difference in quality straight away.

“Every team has brought in good players so you know it’s going to be hard to get to the top. But if we work hard, I think we can get there.

“We are playing very well and creating chances and giving other teams loads of problems.”

The game is being beamed back live to Valley Parade for fans unable to get to Milton Keynes.
