JORDY Hiwula has promised anxious City fans: We will hit the goal trail.

The Bantams aim to open their scoring account at the third attempt at Peterborough tomorrow after starting the campaign with back-to-back stalemates.

Hiwula was one of those to miss out among the 27 shots that peppered Accrington's goal without success in the EFL Cup penalty exit in midweek.

But the on-loan striker insisted there is no need for supporters to get twitchy about opportunities not going in.

Hiwula said: "It's a little frustrating because we've created so many chances. We've been working hard and just need that one goal to go in – then others will follow.

"As long as we are in the right positions and doing things right, it will happen.

"The Accrington game was frantic – loads of things were happening. We hit the post, hit the bar, the keeper made some great saves and we had one cleared off the line.

"I can't remember playing in a game like that before. But the positive is that we are creating things and causing the defence loads of problems, just like last Saturday.

"People would be asking questions if we weren't getting the chances. We're just trying to keep cool and we know the goals will eventually come."

City banged in four on their last visit to Peterborough six months ago and boss Stuart McCall feels they can travel with confidence to face Grant McCann's side.

After being given time to rest a slight knock in midweek, Josh Cullen will play the first game of his latest loan at the same ground where he made his club debut in that February romp.

McCall, who is no nearer to bringing in a fourth forward, wants the same level of performance from the opening week – but with the goals to match.

He said: "I'm not a manager who sees things through rose-tinted glasses. I'll be up front if we don't deserve to win a game or if we've been poor.

"We know our finishing can be better and we've been working on it – but it's not a crisis. There's no doom and gloom about the place and we're upbeat and positive about the future.

"We know we can do better with the final ball and hitting the target. Watching the game back, their goalie made some really good saves, we hit the post, we hit the bar, we had a shot cleared off the line – everything.

"We've got to keep putting ourselves in the right position and believing we will get goals.

"We beat Carlisle 2-0 in the final pre-season game and didn't play anywhere near as well as the last two. I went to Accrington twice and won as a manager and we never played as well as we did the other night.

"We're disappointed and frustrated but there's enough there in the performances individually and collectively.

"We're positive about the way we've played so far but there does come a time when you've got to start scoring."

It will be one in, one out with Cullen as McCall also revealed that City picked up another injury after the cup game but would not say who.

Nathan Clarke and Timothee Dieng are still missing but the Frenchman could be in contention at MK Dons on Tuesday.

McCall said: "Tim's out on the training ground but he hasn't got up to full speed yet. We're hopeful he's got a chance for next week.

"You've got to be careful with calves and I'm speaking from experience.

"Nathan had a scan and he's got a grade one tear, so that will probably be two or three weeks."

In contrast to City, Posh have already netted six times to clock up two 3-2 victories and McCall expects his defence to face greater scrutiny.

The City boss said: "I imagine we'll come under more pressure. Yes, we've kept two clean sheets, but I can see us having more defending to do against Peterborough.

"We know we should be talking about two wins if we'd taken our chances but it's no good looking back now."
