FILIPE Morais is happy with his form heading into City’s League One opener against Port Vale on Saturday.

Last term the Portuguese winger spent eight months stuck on the sidelines after damaging his knee in pre-season.

He returned to action towards the end of the campaign and underlined his class in last weekend’s 2-0 friendly win over Carlisle.

Morais produced a well-struck opener against the Cumbrians and then provided the cross for James Hanson to head home a second.

The 30-year-old said: “I think playing Carlisle was a good test for us because it had more of a tempo of a League One encounter compared to our previous friendlies.

“They put us under pressure and the first half was a bit of a wake-up call for us.

“But the good thing was our reaction in the second half and, on a personal note, I can't ask for much more than a goal and an assist.

“Hopefully I can keep that going and with players like Marshy (Mark Marshall) and myself on the wing, we are always going to get balls into the box.

“I just need to keep getting in there and finishing the opportunities that come my way.

“I also like to get my crosses in for the strikers and it was good to put one in for Hans to score.

“The good thing is that Marshy and I can both play on either flank and I can play behind the striker as well.

“I'm just focusing on doing my very best for the club and the manager.

“I was obviously injured last year, so my priority is staying fit and producing performances week in and week out.”
