STUART McCall wants “two or three” new recruits in time for City’s Scottish tour – as well as goalkeeper Colin Doyle.

The Irishman’s move from Blackpool is moving closer and McCall also revealed they are in advanced talks with several other targets, understood to be central midfield and up front.

But he warned potential recruits that City would not hang around.

McCall said: “We are hopeful by the end of the week to have two or three new faces. From my point of view, I’d like at least three in before we go up to Scotland.

“We’re working towards that between us as a staff, Greg (Abbott), James Mason, Edin (Rahic) and myself.

“As much as players have got other options, so have we as a club.

“We don’t want to get strung along and it comes to a stage when we’ve got to have a cut-off period.

“We would like to get our main targets and if we have to wait a couple of extra days then so be it.

“We’re in competition with other clubs so there’s never any guarantees. But ideally we want two or three in as well as Colin and we’re hopeful.”

Doyle has had a medical with City after they activated a clause in his contract for just £1 to be allowed to talk to him.

But McCall has decided against taking Burnley midfielder George Green on loan. The former City youngster has been training with the club since pre-season began and played the second half of Saturday’s opening friendly against Guiseley.

The Clarets gave City first look at Green because of his previous links and will now look at other options to loan him out for the season.
