STUART McCall took training for the first time since returning to City as his squad returned for pre-season training yesterday.

McCall’s troops, who play their first friendly at Guiseley on Saturday week, began acquainted with their new boss and assistant Kenny Black at the club’s Apperley Bridge training base.

Nicky Law and Nathan Clarke trained while first-year professionals Reece Webb-Foster and Daniel Devine enjoyed their first day with the senior squad.

Defensive duo Stephen Darby and Rory McArdle reported back with the rest of the group but were unable to take part in training as they continued their rehab from injury.

Meanwhile, rookie defender James King has become the latest player to commit his future to City by signing a new one-year contract.

The 19-year-old's current deal expired this summer but the centre half will now remain at Valley Parade for the 2016/2017 campaign.

After graduating up from City's youth set-up, King enjoyed his first season as a professional last year.

The defender was sidelined for three months by a serious ankle injury but returned in time to help City's reserves secure the Final Development League West Division.

City supporters, meanwhile, have smashed the 10,000 barrier for 2016/17 season tickets.

In a week which saw McCall make Law his first signing and hand Clarke a new one-year deal, City still remain some way off the 18,000 season tickets they sold last term.

Supporters have until tomorrow (Sunday) to purchase their current seat with all seats made available from Monday.

Phil Parkinson is poised to complete the signing of former Bantams striker Jamie Proctor at Bolton with defender Mark Beevers, linked with a move to Valley Parade, also heavily linked with the Trotters.
